In light of recent postings regarding personal issues some people may or may not be experiencing I would like to take a moment and thank everyone involved here at Stratics and at Broadsword for creating and maintaining what is in all actuality a very secure and safe gaming environment.
I have been playing and posting since day one and have never once felt threatened, endangered or even slightly hassled in any way.
I have even encouraged two of my teenage children to play UO and they have both had nothing but great experiences and are fairly well known on my home shard.

I remember when a counselor would snatch ya up and haul you off to jail for stupid names. If you tried to log or something they would just rename you something even stupider but not offensive, lol. Ahhh those were the days....

A gm apparently did not like the name of my character IronBalls Mcginty.

I would like to reiterate the OP. Many thanks for many great years, and the kiddos well, they aren't kiddos anymore, but they remain my kiddos, have always had fun. That's an effort I hope to revive.

I regret not being able to name a char Lusiphur, but someone, presumably, still holds a copyright to Poison Elves. So it goes...

I used to run with a pair of guys named "Tree" and "Stump" on Pacific when it first opened. The three of us terrorized those new folks trying to make the lemming race of death from Trinsic gate to West Brit. One day in the middle of the usual slaughter, Stump disappeared. He returned later toting the name "Fred". GM claimed that somebody reported his name offensive to short people. XD Tree was pretty depressed.. so he was sure to dry loot everybody for the rest of the day. ^^

That's an odd occurrence because if memory serves, you cannot cast spells in jail. You can attack someone melee though.

This situation is most likely the REASON that jail became a no-cast area.
