selling prepatch dragon on siege

i used to play siege . around 7 years ago . i haven been on for around 5. (when did lake austin go public?) growing tired of production shards i once again felt the call to answer the challenge that is siege perilous . my characters , altho mighty in their day , are now sad relics of profiles long past . everything must be replaced . scrolls purchased , skills shuffled , all the latest "gotta have" items bought. *sigh*

so much to do.

the GOOD news is , i now have 6 year old pets in the stable .

these hail from a day when there was no evaluate inteligence or meditate on pets . so while his resist is gm . his med and eval are both 0.0 (looks like hes never raised a glove)

i dont know the exact formula of what makes him so special to be called "pre patch" . but his brother certainly kills things faster than a modern dragon.
(i used the one im keeping)

so in order to raise funds for my return to siege i will be selling one brown pre patch dragon .
(the one still showing 0.0s)

ive already sold one prepatch mare for gold and suplys worth well over 2 mil and expect the dragon to bring at least that much .

stats are as folows
hits 495 stam 93 mana 458 strength 825 bard 105.1
resists 65 67 38 33 40 .... skills 91.4 98.0 100.0 33.0 32.1 0.0 0.0

so lets hear it . who wants a seriously old dragon ?

opening bid 2 mil (yes ill consider partial trades... i need 20 tame 20 mage 25 stat and enough ingots to gm a smith ... any or all , suprise me)

Well One thing "special" about pre-patch pets, im pretty sure the taming skill required is lowered significantly, at least the mare and old dragon i used to have was, think i only needed 65 taming for mare.

I could see it being worth a load more on current rule-set shards since the player base of siege is significantly smaller than the xfer population. But im sure itll still bring in quite a bit, especially if the control/taming requirements are below 70.

[/ QUOTE ]I'd really, really like to put this one to rest.

Pre-patch pets require the same amount of taming/lore to own & control as their modern day cousins.

Q:- Is it possible to have a mare on a tamer with 65 taming skill just like the old days?

A:- Why, sure it is! It's absolutely possible to have ALL the high end pets in one's stable and without have as much as one single eeny-weeny little point in Taming or Animal Lore! Try it yourself by soulstoning off tame/lore - pets remain in stables, mares & ridables remain ridable. Wha-hoo!

Q:- Hang on a minute...So how come not everyone is saving themselves up to 240 skill points by stoning off tame/lore then?

A:- The catch, of course, is that the only command a high end pet will obey at sub-control level is the transfer command and then only to a tamer who does have sufficient skill to own & control it. Oh, it's worth mentioning that if you happen to have more than two pets in the stable, you won't be able to stable it again until you have sufficient tame/lore/vet skills to warrant the extra slots.

With remarkably few exceptions, (eg, +stat or +gm skill anomalies, odd damage output such as fire damaging frost spiders, and/or differing dietary requirements) pre-patch pets really are just bragging rights and even then only noticeable to others with sufficient interest & animal lore skill to lore your pet.

I guess one could consider pre-patch pets the double blessed black sandals of the taming profession.

And frankly, I'd walk around barefoot for the rest of my UO days before I'd part with pixel companions with whom I've shared adventures *and* managed to keep them alive at least throughout the years before bonding.
