As far as I know, unless it's a slayer weapon, enhancing a weapon with metals is pointless, all it does is shift the damage type.
On a slayer that's useful because you can shift it to target the mob's lowest resist.

You can enhance them with Dull Copper that metal will not break up the damage on your weapon and it will give you around 500 durability if you powder it out to 255 before the enhance... it also allows you to use tokuno dye on the weapon as well.

As for the specials I know bleed is one but i dont remember the other. Im downloading a KR patch right now so cant get into UO to double check on it.

that's nice to know. All that being said, ( I have the ability to enhance but no experience with it at all) do you still have the chance to break it? If not, the extra durability would be nice.

there is still the chance to break on enhancing but.... you could always buy a bunch of powder of fortification and get the same effect as enhancing with dull copper.

Yes you risk breaking it if you enhance...

but that aside, if you powder to 255, THEN enhance with DC, you can end up with 400+ durabilities, which is much much higher then powder can take it.

You do still have a chance to break it... but if most situations I want enhance a weapon unless I really like the weapon and I will make sure that I use a +60 Hammer to do the enhance with.

does wearing a talisman with smithing bonus help aswell?

no talisman does not effect enhancing.

ASH'es do though.

Thats why tailor enhancing sucks. No way to up your chance to not break something.
