technically scribbles won this item for 125m. (offers until tuesday the 28th would have been 12am today)

just saying, some may not have been pleased extending the auction into tuesday. i realize giggles is not experienced with auctions but would like to mention that the wording was not the best.

excellent re-sale tho, this set sold at the Rares Jubilee on a vendor for 10m total. value in eye of the beholder.

I don't feel anyone was unclear about what Tuesday meant. And if they were, I am sure they would have asked me for clarification. This set was from my personal collection of IDOC goodies that I have had for over 5 years. I did not attend the Atlantic rares jubilee.

in the end a seller can sell to whoever they want, if i were interested in this item i would have asked for clarification.

another bad wording of auction ending i run into is "midnight" this is just as bad as the "until so and so date" because its unclear when the auction / offers actually ends. people interpret midnight different ways, as it looks like giggles interpreted "until the 28" as meaning "thru the 28th" or "sometime on the 28"

Smoot, I believe the items you were thinking about at the rates jubilee were AoS clothing with Beatles names, not PBD.

However, I am fairly confident that anyone offering on any thread that ends on any certain date, understands that it ends sometime on that date, and not 12:00am lol? If they are unclear, all they need do is ask. Just like you should have asked, since it was obviously a matter of up-most importance in your mind.

Well again, thank you for your advice and input.
I guess I just have more faith in the common sense and comprehension skills of Stratics trade folks then some other people do, and I intend to keep it that way. =)

ok jeez, its really not a big deal considering none of the bidders had a problem with it. but let me explain since i started.

if you run an auction until 1pm. the last minute to bid is 12:59

if you run an auction until the 28th. the last day to bid is the 27th.

thats how many people interpret it, and why its not clear.


sorry i mentioned anything, it seemed like a good example to use in relation to today's discussion on auction techniques, wording, and practices best used to run a smooth auction on the trade forum.

conveniently the original post makes it clear that this was "NOT an auction", as such I can only imagine the plan was for peeps to offer what they would be willing to pay for it and not go into a specific endtime bidding war

I hate it when people do that... nothing stopped you from doing the same thing @Smoot and makes you sound really bitter about it. Worry about your own auctions and not everyone else's... both parties had no issues with how this thread/auction ended. You seem to be the only one really complaining about the rules lately!

I do value clarity. i think thats the way to run anything professionally and smoothly.

In my mind, clarity is as simple as saying "I go to work on Tuesday" That doesn't mean a specific time, I am just claiming that I am going to work... Tuesday. There is no difference in saying, "I will stop taking offers on Tuesday". Again, no time specification.
Its really not rocket science, and I don't find anything unprofessional about my sales.
But if you are done trying to nit pick my sale threads for no apparent real reason, I would like to see this thread retire, as the sale is finished.

Perhaps the reason of the dwindling population of the rares community that you spoke of earlier, is in part because people are badgered like this when trying to sell some items? And falsely accused of picking up the items dirt cheap at a rares fest? Hmmmmm. Food for thought.
