Self Repair

From what I read, if the item itself gets damaged (not another item), it self-repairs X points of damage, and the 60 second timer starts, during which it won't self repair even if it is hit again.

Same with shields.

well, kinda what I read too, except... say shield takes 1 damage, then repairs 1, so it's back to where it was - takes 1, gives 1, so it can never go back to where it started. It would have to give back more than it takes (making SR1 worthless if not - which i don't believe it was designed to be), or, something else has to trigger the repair.
color me still confused here

Have several pieces of SR on my dexxer, and never seen the durability fall much at all. Not sure what the formula is but I THINK when the SR kicks in it is just like using a repair deed on it. The number indicates the chance {high or low} that it actually kicks in when you take damage. Or that's what I get from watching it on my dexxers suit. Could be wrong.

Have often wondered how SR plays when imbuing. Does it wipe the SR off when you imbue? Or is it left as a functioning mod?

This is correct

Also you can find self repair up to 7 on anything in shame atm
(atleast Self Repair 7 is the highest i've seen)

Self repair shields (SR +4 or more) make great use for training parry, as do most items in shame, they're all pretty amazing for training in one way or another.

If I remember correctly, each level of self-repair gives a 20% chance (more or less because of RNG) to repair one point instead of a one point loss to durability whenever you take a hit. You have to take a hit to that item slot in order for the self-repair to work.

Certain items were given a SR 10 to make sure they never got destroyed.

SR 1 = 20%
SR 2 = 40%
SR 3 = 60%
SR 4 = 80%
SR 5 = 100%

Using a shield is a very, very bad way to train parry. Equip a black staff, go to Jhelom pits, get 9 of the unarmed FEMALE fighters to hit you and you can 0-120 parry in like 2 hours.

I gained to 120 parry fast at pits with a bunch of plain wood shields and a different discipline wep than what I used. Never tried the black staff route, but will give that a try next time I need to work parry.

thanks Old Man of UO, that's what i was hoping for.

as for training, i just did that to GM - dang, i thought you Had to use a shield, oh well. I started in Haven w/ the accelerated gains quest and used Goblins to GM, a few hrs, Done. added the +10 tunic to fight mobs, what a help

With higher blocking more, does that mean the need for SR on a shield is even more-so desirable?
