Seeds of Renewal Data Collection

It appears that seeds of renewal are appx 1-25. I've heard some pretty fantastic claims of seeds dropping. I've tested gathering seeds the following ways.

I've tried taking seeds every day from the plants that have them.

I've tried taking 8 seeds at the time when the plants are full.

I've tried with immense amounts of luck.

I've tried with 0 luck.

A long time ago I'd have made a joke here.

No matter what I've tried its either 1-25 or worse for the characters I'm doing this with. They are on different accounts. They all have lots of fame and karma. I don't think this matters but you use what you have.

I've grown a lot of plants for this information. Please feel free to post any data you have.

I've gotten better results than that. I'm sorry but I didn't keep an accurate record, but I grow as few as 5 to abott 25 plants at a time. Also, some of those are peculiar plants that don't drop seeds. I think I've gotten as many as 5 seeds of renewal at one gathering. I think it's really random. If I get motivated I'll start keeping a more accurate record, but that really doesn't sound like much fun.

123 Seeds I've harvested 5 have been Seeds of Renewal.

I've had one plant have three of the the eight be renewal. That wasn't as bad as having a plant giving white lilly seeds have 2 of the 8 be renewal

You've gotten the best results overall of anyone I've ever seen. I changed my method of seed collection to getting all the seeds from a plant instead of taking them every day because that seemed to work well when you did it.

My ratio has varied from 1 -20 to 1 -25 so far. I had a very good day today.

"Seed of Renewal - Cavern of the Discarded creatures (Abyss) - Hit Point Regeneration, Mana Regeneration and Stamina Regeneration properties. (As of Publish 61, it appears that these may drop randomly as a gathered resource when collecting resources or seeds from plants.)"

356 Seeds Harvested to Date

10 of those were Seeds of Renewal

10:356 = 1 in 35.6 AT least for me so far... Bad day today.

Enough people have now gotten hooked on collecting seeds of renewal when they gather plant resources that it's safe for a developer to nerf the heck out of the collection rate. They'll take a look at the rates people are posting here and decide that the actual rate has to be cut by at least a third, if not more.

Unknown at this point.

All plants yield one seed per day starting at stage 10, for a maximum of 8 seeds per plant.

You are soo helpful.

Now, the reason I posted it is NO ONE has any seeds of renewal. They are ridiculously rare. There's an excellent chance a dev person is going to look at this thing, and say WOW we didn't have any idea they were so hard to get, and they are so necessary.

Seriously Tina ty so very much for all your hard work.

Now, think about it this way. For me to get a good day I had to grow 288 plants to stage or day 10. Then, I have 8 seeds per plant. So, in reality I'm not going to get a seed at all for 3 whole plants, sometimes as many as 5 or 6 whole plants. God, that's annoying. You have to buy the reagents. Which is hard enough in itself since they start at 20 each. It took 8 hours to buy enough to run my plants for 180 days. Then, it takes 2 hours out every 9 or 10 days to make the potions.
Then on my good day I get 5 freaking seeds. 5 not 25. Now, HOW could any sane person look at all that and think that guys getting too many seeds?

I've got to have 70 for my son's christmas present. I don't have any idea at all IF i can even grow the remaining 49 in a month no matter how many plants I grow. Honestly, I don't know if I can get them growing plants and going to the cavern. (In 8 hours at cavern I get 220-300 drops, but maybe 4-7 seeds) I cannot believe the dev folks meant for these seeds to be this rare as important as they are.

I intend to stay out of the discussion/debate regard the acquisition of relic fragments. My plan to address their rarity, imperfect as it may be, is to try to find looted items with the properties that you get from imbuing using relic fragments (i.e., LMC, DCI, HCI, FCR, FC, super slayer, Hit Lightning, Hit Magic Arrow, and SSI). I'm not sure Velocity occurs on looted bows, though.

I haven't quite yet, however, got my head wrapped around looting for items with properties that can be imbued with the most elusive of ingredients from creatures in the Cavern of the Discarded (i.e., HPR, MR, SR, Mage Armor, DI, SDI, Skill Bonus, Durability, Lower Requirements, Mage Weapon). However, that will eventually be my plan if the ability to pull Renowned from that area of the Abyss isn't addressed.

Between that issue and the way artifacts often seem to drop on the ground for just anyone to pick up, I've lost any desire to go to the Abyss and haven't been in there in well over a month. I thoroughly enjoy almost every other aspect of the Abyss. However, I am disgusted by things in the game that make it so easy for people with little regard for others to grief fellow players. I doubt my boycott of such game features makes much difference to the developers, but it sure does save me a lot of aggravation and irritation.

Sorry for the off-topic comments and hope they don't derail your thread. I've been trying to refrain from posting all my negative thoughts about UO lately. Sometimes, though, I just can't resist the urge to let loose with a few of them. Nothing personal aimed at you, ABC.

They are not all that rare, if you have serious gardeners on your shard. I hope they don't change the drop rate. They would nerf gardeners into the abyss again. Believe it or not there are people who really like to garden! This and some other improvements have givin them a reason to do it again.

With that said, I started keeping track at the beginning of the month and I am seeing an overall drop rate of 5.08%, for Seeds of Renewal, as of this morning with 1552 seeds harvested.

I try not to speak about things I don't know about. I've gotten around 6k normal seeds so far since I started doing this for seeds of renewal. The drop rate has been terrible recently. I've had it average as low as 1:55.

Well my most recent entry, included in the data I posted, was lower than I was used to seeing. I pulled 160 seeds and received 4 renewal seeds, which is 2.5%. The rate may have been changed recently, but I needed more data to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I'll have a lot more data in a week or two, and then I will post my spreadsheet.

Well now we know what the range is. Its between 1:20 to 1:60. I averaged 1:58 this morning. I guess the dev team doesn't really understand what its like to spend 2 hours a day doing something you hate, every day. I'd quit right this second but I have to make 2 sets of armor for Christmas presents and I still don't have enough. I started 2 months ago and I only needed 120. I've spent over 300 hours at Cavern. This sucks on a level I can't really express properly.

This morning one of the sites I use to check Luna vendors has the only seeds of Renewal for sale on atlantic at 1m each or more. 1m EACH!!!! The cheapest I ever saw them was 350k. I'm pretty much tired of talking about it. I only need 10 more seeds now and the drama will be over. I'll keep doing it because I have to, but at least the stress of worrying about Christmas will be over.

Here's more data on the drop rate. The rate does appear to have been tweaked downward since Nov 28, but I'm still seeing close to 5% overall. I copied my data into a google docs spreadsheet.

My rate this morning is 4.59% on 752 seeds pulled (33 seeds of renewal).

Your missing the point that youd need to statistically collect 100000 of seeds to get a ratio that is exact.

Sometime youll be 1 in 68
Then you might be 2 in a row
Then you might be 1 in 35


What is the point? My point... even if you have the ratio exact. Say 1 in 20.

You have 100 seeds to collect - you will still get somewhere between 2 and 8 a shot after collecting the 100. What does that help you with?

The ratio really doesn't matter to me. It's not going to affect how many plants I grow at any given time. People were asking and I thought it would be fun to see what the numbers were like, so I started keeping track.

Besides, if more people collected data, it would not take long to hit that 100k mark.

Well I have had a second plant with white seeds have 2 of the 8 be renewal. I have had a plant give 3 out of 8. The drop rate is just fine for the effort vs reward.

I grow my plants on my beetle and don't use fertile dirt. And if you want to believe that the two pitchers I use, One is from begging the other is an old Murky Milk one, makes a difference go right ahead. Something that also may make my grower favored by the RNG is he has that odd skill, cooking.

I tried expanding to growing using that useless dexer charcter. Got his beetle out and started growing. The character has a black thumb and put him back on the self. Untill they spawn a creature that is off the shadow eli template with arrow/bolt reflection the dexer sits. For those that have a real rotten RNG for seeds I would say rotate with other characters growing. Who hasn't done a grind in game on a charater with slow drops and changed character to break the minlessness. Then that fresh character gets mad drops and changing back to the other makes you realize RNG is a pisser.

I am almost fed up immediately after starting in the seed of renewal venture. I am growing 105 plants in my backpack. I harvested the seeds for the last 3 days and got 2, yes TWO seeds of renewal out of 315 pulls. I am growing Orange Pampas Grass, trying to kill 2 birds with one stone collecting petals.

What types of plants are youguys growing?

I just removed 504 seeds from 63 Orange Pampas. I got 14 Renewal == 2.6%.

Just some questions/reminders ...

- UOs RNG is streaky. If you have several plants to harvest, it might help to harvest the seeds one by one. If you dont get a seed from your first plant, dont continue harvesting but instead try a few hours/a day laters. If you get one, harvest another plant afterwards. (Some ppl use a similar 'system' for opening mibs, to increase their ratio on asos.)

- Maybe their is a difference, on how you pollinate your plants? I could imagine that theres a decreased chance for seeds, if you selfpollinate a plant. At least you only use self pollinating, when you want to reproduce seeds of that plant type.
