Secret Locations - Fun Stuff

Hey all,

I thought it might be fun to open a discussion on the secret/hidden/hard to get locations in UO. First the Rules - We don't want to break any by getting into detail about places where bugs or exploits are required to get there.

Here's a few places I remember from long ago, but don't really remember where they are or how to get in:

1. Yew Jail - underground
2. Waterfall - Secret Mage Shop
3. Waterfall - room to place a house behind it!
4. Bucs Den Tunnels - There's an entrance behind the healer I think...
5. White gate - floating wood platform north west of Yew - doesn't look accessible. Not even sure what this is.
6. Star Room - had a rune back in the day
7. Green Acres - Is it still illegal to go there? Do people still go there? I don't want to know how, just if people still do it.
8.Isn't there a secret entrance to the Brit Sewer?

Anyway, you get the idea! As long as the places are legal to go, it would be fun to post how to get there.

There was a lot of places that people got to by casting teleport and getting into unexpected places. I used to have runes to all of them, but I lost them over the years one way or another. There's also some that you can still get into. I'm trying to remember all of them, and might get some pictures around to show.

UO used to be magical in this sense of mystery and discovery. It still is, but most players these days don't seem interested in anything but items, loot, and items. I truly miss the old players that have left, not all are gone of course, but the many who were curious and sought out the mystery and made discoveries. Too bad that most real mysteries seemed to have always been broken. But there are some strange things that make the curious esquire or lady go "hmmmm".

I have/had a pic of where I sailed in KR to the platform with the gate (it's at basically map coordinates X = 0, Y = 0... trhe upper left corner of the map file). I don;t know if it is accessible in 2d or EC, but it was in KR. I'll see if I can find it... so far not having a lot of luck in doing so though.

Oh crapolas!!!!
On GL they "fixed" the water falls at the lake near the Shrine of Justice by putting a bridge over top of it.

Way to go, Devs. What's your motto there in the office?
"What fun can we suck out of UO today?"

Edit: Oops, no, it's still there. May bad, eh hem, sorry Devs, you're all ok in my book, always were. rolleyes:

BTW, you used to be able to teleport to the south side there, on a dirt patch, and get down to a similar place on that side. But that was fixed long ago.

i went to the gate this morning, but couldn't do anything with it. I'm on 2d.

I never went there, but I have memories of someone mentioning a place in the middle of the sea, it must have been early trammel age but it "could" have been on Felucca seas, just too much time went by, anyways, it was kinda like a wreck in the middle of nowhere from which one could access areas under the sea.

As I said, I never went there and was just told about it. I tried finding it but was never able to. I imagine it was a bug of some kind which was eventually fixed.

There's a secret entrance from Fire Dungeon to a hidden overground area.
Is this the place where you can drop down on the end of the stairs into a little area between levels?

Note that some of these you guys are mentioning are EM or otherwise event areas that were added for those events. It's cool that they don't delete those places. Some may still have meaning, such as the Wisp Hive.

This should turn into a sticky imo, so we can compile a list of them :)

That might spoil it a bit, but.... /shrug

We used to teleport on top of the table on the first level of Wrong. Was fun to watch people getting killed by Ettens.

Some spellcaster killed me up there and I had to use the "stuck" function for the first time.
Lost all my stuffs though.

I read on another forum that it used to be a bannable offense to go to this place. It was a place the Counselors used to go to hang out when "off duty". Must be okay now that the Counselors are Loooooong gone.

Here you go
Storm, that place looks suspiciously like the area below Blackthorn's palace outside of Britain, on Baja. You get to that area via a gate in the second floor library. I'm sure the way it looks/looked on Baja was because of an event in years past, but that was before my time or at least before I was even aware there were such things as EM events.

Quoting myself for everyone interested in this pirates cave.
On GL the entrance is on a large beach on the SW coast of the mainland. There's a tent there, and a net on the ground in front of it. You stand on the net and say "booty".

In T2 there is a sparkling transporter in the middle of a clump of trees that transports you out of the trees. It's north of Delucia near the ostard spawn area.

Password on LS is "Loot"

I'm down there as of right now on my lockpicker... the chests are pickable, and VERY trapped, but seem to have nothing in them.

If nothing else, it's probably a good training place for a picker just due to the number of chests/crates to pick.

Yeah, one time in RL I was walking down the street downtown and passed an ally. Glancing down the ally I saw a man in a business suit standing there, facing the old brick wall of a large building, no door or window, just the flat face of the bricks. He was saying things. "Cash". "IBM". "Get". "Hand".
......I just smiled and nodded knowingly as I walked on.

Here's a few pics.

This is the Justice Falls, walk ahead from there and fall under...

In Hythloth Dungeon, on the 2nd level, the stairs that go down to the 3rd level have an area that used to be accessible by dropping down the other end. Now, they have a wall there to block you off. It was kind of cool.

Also in Hyth, in the Garg Room (3rd level), there's a cage.

You can get inside by teleporting through the NW corner

Another curious thing about Hyth in that Garg Room, as well as in the Dais Room on the same level, is a "Crumbling Floor". You can drop items into these, but you can't get them back. It may affect the spawn in the chests next to each, I don't know.

I'll add some more curiosities later.

The Fire Dungeon spot needs a password. It takes you (on my shard) to a location in t2a. Let me check it again, see if I remember the password correctly, and find out if it still works.
Great! :)
Notice in my post just before yours I show a pic of how it's blocked off now. I'm hoping you can enlighten me with something new.

Many of the shards have more than one password for the pirate area, as it was used in two or more years' events. A bunch of us blew the minds of the LA EM several years ago, because we were already inside, clearing out the spawn, by the time he arrived with the rest of the event people in tow to begin the assault, with the new password.

I can't remember if "scalawag" was the first or second LA password for the site.

That teleporter is probably some left over. There is one in Felucca which teleports you out. It was placed there because Lord Oaks spawns nearby and silly people would die up there.

I collected up some of the pirate cave info some time ago, it's not totally complete, but for what it's worth: (editing to add info in this thread and sort alphabetically)

Atlantic: Ruins to the right of cove graveyard. (one of the Zeepzarful(sp?) locations) password 'loot'.
Baja. black gate on the 2nd floor of Lord Blackthorn's Keep in Britain that takes you there, no password required.
Catskills: 14.14 South and 35.34 West password foremast
Drachenfels Haven Coordinates: 76° 22'S 146° 57'E (B) Password: plunder
Europa: under the arch way in the ruins on dragon Isle password Rhumbaba
Great Lakes the entrance is on a large beach on the SW coast of the mainland. There's a tent there, and a net on the ground in front of it. You stand on the net and say "booty".
Lake austin there is a brazier on the ground in the cave leading the delucia entrance where it telports you to another area when you say "scalawag".
Lake Superior, Haven: 89.54s 147.05 e Directly screen straight up from the moongate... the second such patch of underbrush and trees. password: "Loot".
Legends: 84o27s 8o18e Go to T2a, On your map, to the far SE of the map you will see the "PORTAL TO ISLAND TEMPLE". Just east of that you will see the Gentle River where it ends. Right at that ending you will find a hole. Simple walk on the hole

Donno what all you consider secret, but I managed to get into the lighthouse in t2a and mark there.

Of course you can't recall there in felucca anymore, but I think you can still get inside.

I have a few spots marked in the buc tunnels.

You could somewhat consider the t2a entrances a little secret, since most people don't know all of them.

There are some Seer spots that have passwords or other ways of entry, but I thought you were looking for standard map areas.

There's the inn at bucs den that they used to use as a jail.

I'll have to think about any others.

I believe that was in Despise, In one of the top 2 levels (Ettins or Lizardmen). There was one tile where you could walk down into it, which hid the water and left you looking at the dip in the ground. I'm pretty sure they fixed that, so your marked rune might be a pretty rare thing.
