just wondering here....does it matter whether or not i use a exceptional scribe pen?
im making books and scrappers, does the exceptional pen do anything for me?

What matters is the uses. An exceptional is far more durable than the junk they sell in town.

Nope, the exceptional tag on the pen itself doesn't give anything but more uses, as Gwendar mentioned.

As far as I know the only thing that actually enhances the quality of inscribed items, in terms of possible properties, is degree of magery skill in the case of crafted spell books & Scrapper's.

Some things that make the actual process of inscription more effective and less tedious:

Talisman - to increase success chance
Mana regen armor (to give more mana during scroll production)

You can make "affordable" medable leather armor mana regen sets with spined runics. Since the set is going to just be for inscription, it is even easier because the resists don't matter. (If you don't have one, you might check with Patty Pickaxe a/k/a Hannah Hellfire on the forums as she was burning spined runics recently).

I advise storing such crafting aids in a secure spot in a house and only using them there.

If we had to rely on NPC quality mortar & pestles for potion grinding, I would have been driven to psychotic murderous PK rampages long ago. It would take a long time to kill someone with a mortar and pestle, and would have been very ugly, so it is good that GM exceptional crafted mortar & pestle usually has 100+ uses.

I had to be utterly insane to GM Scribing AFTER GMing Alchemy here talk about two of the worst reg intense endless grind skills to gm *save for lumberjacking* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz but I was very glad I had my Miranda to make all the mortarpestles and scribes pens for my Hughes than npc junk to gm those skills with. *and even then gm tinker* ya get some crap tools made *raises fist in protest* GM tinker should never get a tool that reads 55 uses NEVA ! *happens sometimes spend ages gming tinker every single tool should be 100 200 plus uses*
