I see it now, nice I think I got quite a few of them so far but unless they just putting it so high to get people into fighting the invasion don't see them leaving it that high, hope they do though..

Yeah, thats a lot of points. And Ive heard so many times over about how many of these items certain people have. I have yet to kill a single one of the hard spawn items with my bard/mage.

25k points...sigh. So anyone with a *edit*high powered class/build(possibly involving greater dragons) can get the full Bracelet/Ring combo with only 12 swords/shields. Or a full Knights Armor set (and probably the 3rd turn in armor sets) with only what, 24 swords/shields?

Me either. And not through a lack of trying. Ive tried luring Vanguard off towards the edge of town limits and EV'ing them, but then they pop and theyre gone. Head back into town, watch a mass of red spawn, and barely escape with my life.

Yeah same here after dying like a billion times I gave up. Not sure why they didn't allow ev's in town since they did with the ophidian event.

It is just my imagination for are the Nujelm Vangaurd Controllers harder to kill? I cast a Word of Death that did 477 damage and he didn't die? Plus they see faster. Very hard for me to solo, but I am doing it. Whew.

I think this is ridiculous...25k points for each of them and:
only 3.5k for a 120 PS?
only 10k point for a Artifacts Level 10 and 11?
and so on...

these points are not balanced!!

yeah I think it's a little unbalanced too. If they are going to be worth that much then they should boost the artifacts up more points.

You should be real happy tho if you have 300 shields and swords that gives you 7500000 points. You can give some of them to me if you want lol. Doom artifacts in my opinion should be worth the same amount.

My friend and I have been fighting these guys and while we don't have a HUGE amount of the swords/shields due to limited play time, I think that with the two of us being the ONLY ones in the cities for when we are on, that we deserve the points!

I agree, the no summons in cities for mages is plain wrong. But hook up with someone in the game who is not a pure mage, as you are, and share the spoils. Fighting them solo is hard anyway, need a healer anyhoo.

And for all we know, the bastages would likely dispell the EV's in a heartbeat
as usual for the bigger guys lol.

Someone who has 150 of them is a major gamer. They are NOT easy to kill! I have a mage wanna be provoker and my bud has a tamer. We died ALOT. We have a total of 44 of these items and spent alot of time and insurance money getting them.. But also had alot of fun.

For all you folks coming into the scene now that the towns will inudated with people with dollar signs in their eyes instead of immersing themselves into something NEW which we all scream about. But you can count on me for a rez cuz I will be there when I can.

The Vanguard assualt will become heavier. Get em now while its even possible! The reason anyone has 100+ swords and shields is because there is little competition on his/her shard. The spawn is limited to 4 and there is a timer that counts down once they all die. There is a limited number of swords and shield that can be obtained from just Cove, which is the easiest of the locations.

I tried doing this part of the event I just can't do it alone every time I went no one was there. I'm not one of the people with dollar signs I have never sold any item I have got from an event. I do the events because I love to do them yes getting items from them is nice which is why I have a whole floor in one of my houses with items from each event. If I could cast ev's I could at least do it as well as I could moonglow which I died a lot at but I could still do it.

Well, if I was on chessy I would help ya. but gotta say a pure mage just won't cut this event, sorry.

The only arsenal you have for the vanguards is mindblast. You won't be able to kill them on your own. But you are not alone, a swordsman won't be able to either solo. I tried on a voker solo, but the spawn just gets wasted real quick and I am left alone to die at the hands at the vanguard.

This is a group effort. A tamer and another strong non-tamer can team up and do ok, but still lots of deaths. Or ya gotta get a bigger team if no tamer is around.

But it can be done.

I have gotten more swords/shields using my bard/mage than anything else. My tamer comes in 2nd as the dragon rarely survives the spawn.

swords and shields should be worth about 5k points each. not 25k... each vanguard has a sword and shield that drops, so 50k points for each vanguard is just too much... the demon berserkers didnt always have a scythe and those only go for 10k each... and the vanguard arent too hard to kill with a decent pally with a soul seeker... this point value needs to be dropped before it goes past test center..

Doom artis I think are a litlle eaier so 15k and 20k for the swords and sheild sounds good to me, but I dont make the rules

The vanguard points do seem way to high...compared to other turn in items..like someone pointed out 40 items equals 1,000,000 points!!! I think
10k points would be a lot fairer per sword/shield.

no, i'm not really happy:
- first, 25k each is too much for them
- second, other items are low points and are more diffucult to get
- 3rd, i thought it was difficult to get high end rewards, now its a JOKE!

White pearls you will want to trade them in for what? They have a use in game and belive it or not you COULD sell them for ppl who sell pendant of the magi and buy one of the luck things or some such

Even though my spells do jack on Vanguards mostly, I can kill them with him.

How can you realy be a pvm plain mage anymore though? My mage has necro and SWing so he has tools to deal with them.

Like Beserker Daemons I was not around during some of the event leading to this and have no mystic or whatever weps, so I logged my mage on and played with every spell and found that I could kill them with EQ and WOD.

Like wise WOD works on vanguards too and if you throw in mindblasts and a few other spell that to ok damage against them and finsh it with WOD, you get a sword or shield.

I do see an item that is very hard to find that should be worth more though lol
I have done lots of white net throwing and never got a ghost anchor or a sea horse.

So 35k sounds right for them.

However Im gonna kill some Vanguards in the monring to get some more of the swords and sheilds.

I found you can solo easy with a cross healer if you a dexer btw.

I dont have any like I said but I would find one if it did, and I should of killed more deamon berserkers instead of putting it off cuase it was very hard for me. Now I dont know where to find them anymnore and I missed out.

I still think now though that perhaps they should be worth 15-20k not 25k though, we can still kill them and will be able to for some time to come.

Hmm, 25k is a lot of points, but..

..up until I saw this, I'd largely given up hope of participating in the vanguard invasion, at least in the hack & slash sense. I tried a few different approaches, got no results other than dozens of deaths. So I focused on what I normally do, herding & healing.

After reading this thread, I just now tried my t-hunter/bard, got my first sword & managed to take down quite a few things, happy with that. I think this time I can get my hands dirty, maybe make a difference to the event? From that I'd say dangling the 25k point carrot has worked for me, I'm involved again.

Even if they renege on the 25k, at least I know I can fight now!

Why bother trading in old items for some hundred points when farming new ones is more rewarding ? The whole purpose of this event has gone. They should have made the new event items a new use rather than mixing it with the spring cleaning.

So i kill a vanguard and get a shield and sword and trade my 50k points for two other items at the donation ? What is won ? They could also just spawn the items from the collection on the event critters.

Oh and a rare level 12 painting from doom or the seahorse statuette are as rare as vanguard stuff ? i doubt it...

5-10k points seem more reasonable, but even then it still comes to the point i mentioned above.

EA Japan has twice updated today.

At first, they reported that Obsidian swords and Chaos shields are worth 25,000 pts but before 3 hours they updated once more and reduced them to 2,500 pts.
