Salt Peter, why would they want to....

Why on Earth - er Sorsaria, would they want to change the salt peter vendors so that the prices keep going up? Since the addition of the new NPC vendors, I myself have not seen a problem collecting salt peter. It is a resource that you need tons of if you frequently use cannons on your ship. Already it takes tons of resources to keep ship and cannons operational, so why now drive up the prices on the salt peter??!!! It is not like we are making any gold from playing with pirates, or going on little fishing e peditions! (insert missing letter one of my keyboard keys just bailed)

the next patch will make it where you can mine it yourself with a shovel in dungeons so it will be free, well other than the time it takes you to dig it up. So don't let this get you worked up, just hit the dungeons in a few days lol

Really don't want to mine in a dungeon to collect saltpeter, when we are already busy trying to keep wood stocked up, build cannon supplies and doing endless fishing quests trying to get fishing power scrolls. Would rather spend our time pirate hunting and not making any gold. In the mean time we are already neglecting, doom, slasher and medusa and collecting black rock stew!

It really depends how much you can get with mining.
If you can get a about hundred salpeter a vein then it might be ok.
Bit more would probably be better as you have to mine in dungeons, or else at the few boatmining spots.

Mining is really boring, so make it right and not a scripting challenge.

In order to make cannons, I had to move blacksmithing and carpentry onto one character. That meant I had to put all the gathering skills on another character. So my poor weak gathering character isn't going to be venturing into a dungeon any time soon.

The whole saltpeter thing was supposed to HELP crafters. IT DOES NOT!

It seems to me that UO is made only for the elite few who spend 24/7 on UO and who seem to enjoy getting killed while trying to mine.

What makes me mad is I paid for the Booster under the impression I would be able to sail a ship and fire cannons at baddies. What with saltpeter and the annoying crafting decisions, I feel I have been priced right out of the market.

So I am forced to go mining in dangerous conditions with a character who will never be up to it -- or pay though the nose crazy prices just to FIRE A CANNON.

I'm out...

Typical!!

Because sometimes our Devs are incredibly daft, in that very special way that only really clever people can be daft?

I mean for the most part, it seems like things are working well now as far as salt peter goes. For those of us that have gotten the additional alchemists on their shard. I can understand it being a mineable resource if someone is into mining, but why make it harder on everyone else?

High Seas is already a very "skill heavy" and "resource heavy" booster, which makes it difficult for many average players to be successful without having to build new charectors, change skills around, or be in a tight workable guild.

We are lucky and already have gold and resources, that have been stocked for years, but how hard it must be for a newer player to be able to get themselves worked in. Not only are they talking about mining in dungeons which is not likely a great place for some of the newer people, but they are also adding luck in as a factor. I'm sure every newer player has a huge luck suit they are just dieing to put on...

You can also mine saltpeter from cliffs on a boat. It is not necessary to be in a dungeon.

What about a market night or two on the docks where everyone comes to sell their supplies? Not everyone is out pirating, some are using the need for lumber as a reason to go farm wood again. The saltpeter availability would have been easier presented if it was implemented this way to begin with instead of changing things up. I understand it's to keep it more available at a higher cost but it's hard to backtrack once a system is in place.

Still, I tihnk making it a true market to bring crafters together and into the expansion would be fun.

Just my 2cents and a snapple :)

Its so scripters can charge you an arm and leg for the stuff they will be script mining. Or they can sell it back to the npc and get 75% of the asking price making more gold come into the game.

Sorry Devs this is a bad idea, just make it so all Alchemist sell it.

Oh look, it seems I am not the only person who doesn't like the saltpeter situation, like some people seem to be implying -- fascinating!

It might not be that bad.
With each bigger publish they spawn the vendors anew, with reduced prices.
Would be fun though if all the ones Mesana placed disappeared and pnly the ones at the docks were left.

Pirate catching for the masochistic who want to be lucky mining in dungeons.
