Rune Library - do you use it?

The rune library currently in Luna, formerly in Zento

A few questions:

a) do you use it?

b) would you still use it if it was somewhere more remote, and you had to gate to it? *edit, my castle is not horridly remote - we are talking about north of Minoc so it's certainly runnable, I'm just a lazy mage*

I would use it if I had enough magery to gate but that's not going to happen any time this century I think

I typically use Sloan's, if I use a library at all, which is rare. But even The Port of Umbra is less public than Pixel World. I would be very nervous about being tracked from Luna by a gate-jumper and killed.

In fact, every gate I make in Luna I expect to get jumped from. Usually I use the Moongate in the courtyard to go somewhere else and gate from there instead.

If Sloan doesn't have a rune you're my second choice. But your place is dangerous, even more than Umbra is.

As for proximity....... Hrmmm, how to put this........

On most shards you want to be near the center of the actions. Sieger's caution about gate-jumpers however makes distance desirable too. Where the intersection of safety and inconvenience is best place is a tricky question I don't have an easy answer for, but you should think about it since it is the answer you want. The only advice I would offer is that someone able to use a rune-library is likely able to gate to it, so once it's known by them they'll come. Most folks who use your library won't be walking to it, I would think.

Good point. I can't imagine what someone who CAN'T gate would want with a rune library, except perhaps to accost hopeful t-hunters for example.

About the only real advantage I can think of for a rune library to be extremely close to a moongate is for exposure purposes - for people who wouldn't know where to look the first time to find it (at which point they would mark their own rune "X rune library").

On Siege, the disadvantages might outweigh that.

and I have my own rune library in my tower north of minoc stables...

why put two librarys up there?

I would rather use a library at a remote location, I don't like the idea that someone follows me through the gate. I'm a bit paranoid like that so gating from luna is not something I like to do.

I think rune libraries are great, there are too few of them on Siege imo.
I'd use a good rune library no matter where it was, the location doesn't matter much to me as long as it's not in a *very* dangerous place.
