DARKNESS:

Dark black it was when her spirit found back the way to a decayed body that once was hers. She had neither an idea about what happened to her nor what was happening at that point. Not able to move any part of her body, she tried to remember, remember what happened, remember where she is and how she got thereto, remember who she is.

It took her a bit to get some control back over her body. Over a month it took until she was able to turn her head around and move her arms, the rest was still paralyzed. She still had no idea at all about where she could be. She spread her arms but didn’t touch anything, nor could she reach right in front of her. She tried to sit up but her arms were unable to reach anything behind her. However when she tried to push herself up, she heard a dull blow and she stopped moving for a while trying to hear it again. It took her quite a bit until she noticed that it was her head hitting against something producing that sound. She realized that her body was numb. She kept swinging her arms around trying to find out what she was hitting against. It sounded like old wood and from the size, the crate seemed to be way too small to promise anything good...

Months passed until she gave up the idea that she might not be in a coffin. It just became too clear to ignore. The dull music she heard every once and then made sense now as well. Endless questions whizzed through her head. She just couldn’t imagine how after that much time she still was alive - was she?
She realized that even though her soul clearly was back in her body and mind functioning, that she still didn’t seem to have much if any control of her body (or rather corpse?). Further she noted that she hadn’t felt anything, no pangs of hunger, nor cold, no pain nor fear or hope.
For over another month, she tried to remember how the world she lived in looked like, without any success. From that point, she started to keep scratching with the remains of her fingernails on the cover of the coffin...

THE FIRST ENCOUNTER:

Over two years have passed by since an older man buried the corpse of a poor young girl at the Yew graveyard while trying to ward off the skeletons. It still was early morning when a raven croaked timidly and flew away from a plain gravestone. A few skeletons turned around and watched a slaved away hand pierce through the damp ground. Only a few minutes later, the girl was standing there, looking down on her grave. Confused she looked around and tried to remember something. Too fascinated she was by the sight of the rising sun to think about anything so she spent the next hour standing there looking around. She caught sight of the gravestone and read the name inscribed on it - her name. "Shakaja" she kept saying out loud trying to associate it with a memory. She realized that this wouldn’t help her at all so she decided to leave the graveyard. She started to rove around aimlessly. The people she met tried to get out of her way as fast as possible and looked at her more disgusted than shocked.

After hours, she came past a house with an old man sitting in the front garden. She didn’t know what it was, but when she looked into his eyes, something forced her to stand still and turn around. For a long time they looked at each other ignoring everything else. Finally the old man broke the silence and asked her to come closer. The old man watched how she came closer and sat beside him on the grass. The old man introduced himself as Sumatros and told her a story about a young girl but she hardly could concentrate on what he said, too distracted she was, trying to remember where from she knew him. She heard him say that he was sorry, that it was all his fault and that he would compensate her for it. Surprised her look moved between the key he pressed into her hand and that old ill man walking away with a limp. Over an hour she just sat there looking into the sky thinking about what the old man told her. She decided to gather more information about her past life. Looking around she noticed that a few scared neighbors were sitting behind their windows staring at her. Looking at herself, she realized that she still was naked and her body was no longer beautiful. Her appearance was very similar to a rotting corpse, yet this did not shock her, but to avoid further scaring the citizens she decided to cover herself in some cloth. With the key the old man gave her, she opened the door to the house and searched for cloth and pretty quickly found some dark one with a matching pair of gloves and boots. Covering herself in those, she started to wander through Sosaria searching for memories...

Very nice...only it is a shame...Shakaja was so pretty, even if she made poor fashion choices.
