(Yew, Trammel) Last eve, the Royal Academy of Virtue sponsored a seminar on the Virtue of Justice, chaired by academician Ra'Dian Fl'Gith who also serves as the High Justicar of Virtue on the High Court of Britannia. Many familiar faces from the realm were to be seen, including Chancellor DaKaren, Minister of Foreign Affairs Malag-aste Hla-ate, and newly appointed Councilor Beauvina of Jhelom all of the High Council of Britannia. Neptune, one of the Royal Spies, Kasavar of Dracona, and Librarian Martyna Z'muir were also among those present at the seminar.
The seminar began with everyone introducing themselves and giving a quick insight into what they thought the Virtue of Justice stood for. Kasavar of Dracona began the introductions by noting that to him, Justice "is equal representation and a fair balance of action and reaction." Ariakas of the Royal Knights of Virtue felt "Justice is making sure one gets what is coming to them, whether [it] be good or bad." Akuma Yamamoto of Tokuno indicated "Justice is the means of upholding honor," while Minister of Foreign Affairs Malag-aste stated, "Justice is about trying to do what is best for all. Not only the accused, but the victim."
Introductions were followed by a discussion of the foundation of the Virtue, that in Britannian philosophy it is derived from the Three Principles as Truth tempered by Love. This led to a tale of Jaana the Druid from ancient times, and a situation in which she was forced to decide the fate of an orcish chieftain based not only on Justice but on Honor, Valor, and Compassion as well. As the tale progressed, Ra'Dian stopped reading to discuss what had gone on in the tale thus far. During the conversations, Justicar Fl'Gith gave insight into his own philosophy, that "sometimes Justice has no correct answer, but oft shades of correct instead."
Last evening's seminar was the first in a two-part look at the Virtue, with the culmination coming in two weeks on Wednesday, July 21 at 8:00 PM (CDT) with a trip into the Dungeon Wrong to take a look at the effects that the opposing Anti-Virtue can have. All are invited to attend, and the concluding event will meet initially at the same Counselors Guild in Yew, with gates coming later.
