Ringmail Mining Gloves.

Ok, so i turned my craftger into a gargoyle to get the bonuses to learn imbuing, so far so good.
Ran low on ingots so i went out to mine some up....still so far so good.
Hmm...problem....i can't seem to put these damb Ringmail mining gloves on over these clawed hands.

Ie, is their an gargoyle alternative as i can't alter them either and now i'm 5 points down in mining

My guess is no, crafting, namely bods, is the neglected ******* child of the game. Not the cool type that goes to a wall and learns to fight better and gets a sweet sword, the type you abandon in the woods and someone finds a corpse later.

And by my guess, I mean I've never seen or heard of any alternative.

Always amazed how something can go under the radar for so long.
Don't recall seeing this "bug" or oversight being posted before.
I jumped on and tried most everything I could think of on my gargoyle to get it to work but I got about as far as you did.
I would submit to a dev or a bug report and also I would cross post on the craftsman forum.

Only bug is some armor, weapons & shields lacks the "Human/Elf Only" line.

I dont understand....

Elves get a bonus to colored counts

Humans get extra pack space to gather more per trip.

Gargyoles get.... extra HCI... extra DI when down on HP?

Yes they also get that imbue bonus but I dont see giving up the elvish colored bonus on my miner anytime soon. The Human bonus isnt exactly bad either!.

The way its set up I cant seem to get away from having 2 active arms lore skills on my account. There is simply too many skills that benefit from it hence I have my elvish gatherer/smith/tailor and my Imbuing carpenter chemist gargoyle(who lacks tinkering btw!)

Theres was just no way around it!

And I for one would like to hear how some of the players here in UOHall handled the crafting skill spread

I wonder if the ringmail gloves can be converted to gargolye use. Many items can be. I don't know if it is possible. I have not checked this out.

I had to check this out for myself and indeed you can not alter ringmail gloves for gargolye use. darn it!

Get the soulstone out. It's not in the mining where I miss my gloves, it's in the smelting. With all of the demands on a crafting template I made a resource gatherer. As it happened, with three accounts, I had an old axer. I dropped resist on him and stoned over mining. This then allowed me to mine for saltpeter in the dungeons. This solution isn't much good for those that have just one acct.

The good: You can imbue those ringmail mining gloves. Just use a soulstone to put the skill on an elf character, that's what I did. If there weren't soulstones, it would have been the #1 topic of discussion for weeks, but since everybody has at least a couple of soulstones, it's not a big deal.

Last time I tried (which was a year or more ago, so it may have changed) Jacob's Pickaxe gave you +10 mining up to 100, but would not let you go over 100 - at 98 or so 'real' skill, and wearing the ringmail gloves, I reached (no big surprise) 103, but if I then equipped the pickaxe my skill dropped back down to 100!

Edit - So rather than be lazy, I just went back to test it again - sure enough, if you are below 100 skill the pickaxe adds 10, unless that would take you over 100, in which case it 'caps' at 100. If you are 105 with the gloves, and equip the pickaxe, you drop back down to 100. Seems equipping it overules any other skill gain items, like the gloves.

HOWEVER - at 98 skill, the pickaxe takes me to 100 - and if I then equip the gloves, I get to 105 skill.
