But I doubt Mark even knows what the solen are....

There was a mention in the original UO Herald report of the event only going for ten days. I think they meant the actual content; the opportunity to run characters through it will probably last for quite a bit longer. I guess the follow-up will be announced soon.

I know the event's getting a lot of flak on this board, but I'm actually pretty interested in where the story is going. If it heads in the direction it seems to be heading, it will introduce a new bit of facet lore without precedent and with rather disturbing implications, which is always good.

Now for some wild mass guessing: I think pre-British Trammel was Disneyland.

Maybe it's an cosmic horror in the form of a cloak and our characters just can't wrap their minds around it, so that's why it has no name. Ricardo tried to duplicate his cloak between facets, ended up with a writhing mass of eldritch anti-matter un-cloth from beyond the void, tried to understand its true nature and ended up going raving mad as a result. Same with the talisman.

The Regen Cloak and the Posion Guard (my names not official as currently their names are either "Megacliloc Error" or "Missing String" depending on client used).

I'm ready to see where all of this is headed, but we do seem to be stuck in somewhat of a "plot mobius" of sorts with the initial talk about Magincia and ending up with the Ophidian Scion.

Either we're not getting the whole story, or we've reached a fiction "Oh... ****" moment.

• Relic Fragment
• "Gray Cloak" with no official name yet and properties of Hit Point Regeneration 1; Stamina Regeneration 1; Mana Regeneration 1; and LMC 2%
• Gargoyle Wing Armor version of the "Gray Cloak" (you might only get wing armor if the character is a gargoyle)
• Talisman with no official name yet and properties of Poison Eater 5%; Stamina Regeneration 2; LMC 5%; Poison Resist 3%
• Assorted other talismans
• Miscellaneous jewelry
• Miscellaneous armor
• Miscellaneous weapons

Crag

• Relic Fragment
• Ranger's Cloak of Augmentation with Kinetic Eater 5%; 3% Spell Damage Increase; 1% LMC; 5% SSI
• Gargoyle Wing Armor version of the Ranger's Cloak of Augmentation (??? just guessing on this, someone else will need to confirm if you can get this and whether you only get it if your character is a gargoyle)
• Frostguard Talisman with Cold Eater 5%; Mana Regeneration 1; LMC 5%; Cold Resist 3%
• Assorted other talismans
• Miscellaneous jewelry
• Miscellaneous armor

Your character's karma gets a 1000 point boost for each book you turn in to Dan (and on Atlantic and any other shard that is also screwed up, for each book you turn in to Crag).

Your character's karma gets a 1000 point deduction for each book you turn in to Crag (unless you're on Atlantic and possibly some other shard that is also screwed-up).

And now for some non-scientific comments regarding some of the rewards:

So far only a few of the Frostguard or "Poison Eater" talismans my characters have pulled from the chests have had the "owned by no one" property. (Which is fine with me. LOL)

The miscellaneous armor seems to come out as ALL "gargoyle only" armor if the character rummaging in the chest is a gargoyle. Elven characters seem to pull out more "elf only" armor than anything else, and human characters pull out an annoying large amount of "elf only" armor that they can't possibly use. Much of the elf only armor is also made out of hide. Yuck.

All the miscellaneous weapons that gargoyle characters pull out of the chests are "gargoyle only" weapons. Elf and human characters seem to pull out a lot of ML-type weapons, along with a fair amount of heavy crossbows, composite bows, and repeating crossbows and just a smattering of other non-ML weapons.

It's hard to say whether luck has any influence over what you pull out of the chest. My "luckiest" character so far turned in 8 books and has just 40 luck on her suit, but was rewarded with one relic, two ranger's cloaks, and two frostguard talismans. On the other hand, after turning in 8 books, many characters received nothing out of the ordinary--just stuff to unravel. I have also not really noticed that you get better items visiting the lieutenant after you read each book and just pulling out one item or turning in the information all at once and dipping into the chest repeatedly, once for each book.

Have fun with it, Derium, and good luck. Also if you plan to use the cloaks or talismans on stealthers, you might want to experiment a bit first before taking the stealther out into hostile territory. Seems I read a post or two that indicated that when the "eater" property kicks in, it might reveal a hidden character.

I hope no one takes my comments as a complaint. I'm very happy to get the relic fragments and new items. I just thought it would be interesting to try to keep track of the rest of the items and see if there were any noticeable trends. There were. LOL

No, I'm just saying that I noticed the same thing... a LOT of bows... which do me little good considering. Metal items I tend to make more use of since I can combine them with BODs or resmelt them, Unravel items I generally get camping ToK for items less than 4 stones (mostly jewelry), or for higher end, the unravelable 10th anniversary Legacy dungeon items.

I kinda liked it, that the random items somehow reflected the character. Not even the race but also the skills. my thief got a lot of jewelry, almost always with +stealing on it.

Not that any of it was of any use, but nonetheless, a nice gimmick.
