[Necromancy] Returning vet, need advice on old Necro/nox/mage

Ok, so I have been gone for around 4 years. I'm dying to get back into the mix(pvp), but I am unsure about my old template. When I left, spawn and field fighting was the order of the day, and so I favored this template. How viable is it nowadays? Would I be better off going with a scribe/wrestle temp, or maybe something a little more unconventional like weaving or mysticism?
120 Magery
120 Eval
120 Resisting
95 Med
95 Necro(100 w/ talisman)
90 SS(100 w/ talisman)
80 Poisoning

I am in the process of building a suit, and can pretty much pick and choose whatever mods I want on it. I have access to just about any arty I need. Anyhow, whatever advice anyone could give would be appreciated

your template is still powerful for pvp and pvm. The only skill I would have to read up on again is poisoning. I am not certain if 80 is enough or if you need 100.

As for a suit. If you plan on doing a lot of pvp, you want to try and get to 70 dci to overcome dexer's hit lower attack items. Also, consider playing a human for extra hpr 2 and the ability to use skills without any skill points. In addition, hpr is extremely helpful at high levels. The max is 18.

I'll post more to discuss your other questions when I get some time. Hope this helps

Awesome pic, one of my favorite magic card drawings.

Anyways a nox necro mage is very good in pvp, almost all mages are equal in terms of power right now. Necro mage is hard to play so if you are good you will be good, if you are bad at necro mage you will be bad..

Apples have a 30 second timer, and mysticism isn't as good for nerfing necro anymore (exception of rock form.. carry ward removal talismens or run with a mystic). So this means you don't have to curse non stop and run out of mana while the other guy laughs at you. Evil Omen+poison gives level 5 (lethal) poison if you are close, which is pretty nasty. Also you will get passive resistance to poison sometimes by having the poisoning skill.

The old formula still holds- magery+poisoning=200 for dp fields. Going to gm poison will increase your passive resistance, and give a slight chance for lethal poison from fields. I have not tested this very much, but with a necro my feeling is who cares?

Just stack your dci up high over a mage weapon and you will do ok. Expect disarms, but you can bloodoath so it's all good.

Mine too..

Thanks for all the advise. It would seem consumables play a bigger part in pvp than they used to. I played a necro/mage for years and was pretty good at one time, but it has been a long time, so I get the feeling I'm gonna be pushing up some daisies for awhile. Doubt I will pick up GM poison, but this template is pretty mana intensive, so I am thinking I should probably make sure to cap lmc and get as much mr as possible. Aside from dci, lmc, and mr, what would you guys recommend for the next most important mod? HPI, HPR, Mana inc? I am going with the standard imbued Planesword, and am making up the lost magery with some imbued 1/3 jewels with magery/enh pots/and int. Im thinking I may need to rework that though because its gonna be difficult to get dci up to 70 w/o using the jewels. Prob just gonna have to forgo the enh pots, even though I hate to cause I'm a hopeless pot *****.. It was pretty disheartening to find out my carefully assembled, 100+ mil gold lrc/lmc/mr 70s suit was a dime a dozen these days, but oh well lol

I am not much for imbue, it really bothered me when they put it in because suits that were good used to take a lot of time and money to make. But I do agree that it makes the playing field more even. So idk.

Anyways, 25 hpi is almost a must. mi is nice, and i ran this temp for a little bit not that long ago.. it is very mana intensive. 40lmc and shoot for 60+ dci, 70 is max you could need. If you have the high seas expansion you should try to get the corgul sash, ihas 5dci, usually the LT sash is better but I have been liking the corgul more and more. 40EP is really the best you are going to get on this temp and I recommend trying to get it, the heals are actually pretty important. At least how I play a necro mage.. I abuse bloodoath on these ninjas and purposely run from deathstrikes.. 60 dmg can be cut back a lot with a nice heal pot. SS for the nox fencer so cure's arn't a huge deal.. and passive poison resistance.

Make sure you have decent phyical in protection also, when disarm spammed I often have to go into protection.. I hate doing it but I can't do much threw a bleed disarm spam. I usually aim for around 60 phy in protection.

Also if you plan to modify any skill try to get SS to 120..100 necro is enough (105 for never fail strangles) but 120 ss really adds duration and damage to those necro debuffs.
