I'm looking forward to being able to use the Inscription FAQ but if anyone could help get me started it would be much appreciated.

I have about 10K blank scrolls right now and lots of reagents. I remember how to run up the NPCs to get them going.

My Magery is about 64 and inscription is about 45 or so on a new char I'm working on. It's actually a crafter with GM Smith/Tailor that I'm adding more magery and inscription to... I don't know what talismans are or where to get them... special spellbooks etc... just the basics.

I've been making recall scrolls and I'm about 40-50% successfull with decent inscription gains but no magery gains obviously.

I wonder if someone could give me a quick strategy to get to GM in both... I remember in Magery you want to be in a boat on a line you can keep going forward and just keep casting certain spells but I dont remember which spells at which points... so from 65 to 100? and for inscription 45 to GM?

Thanks a lot.

Hail and welcome back!

A lot has changed and one of the biggest changes has been the removal of 8X8 training. (No more boats for training!)

For inscription I would try 3rd levels scrolls until about 50, then switch to recalls. Try to make scrolls that are about 20 points below your level for maximum gains and minimal failures. Unless of course your selling the recalls to other players. Keep doing this until you reach 80 then switch to spell books. (No more regs needed then.)

Now for magery try to find a Mage Weapon with 100% poison damage. Then go out and buy or make a golem. Hit the golem with the mage weapon a you'll gain magery! (Make sure the weapon skill of the type weapon your using is locked or you'll gain that weapon skill.)

Thanks for the tips.

I have a tinker but no idea how to make a golem or where to get the parts... other than the gears I can make.

I'll look for a golem on vendors or post on my shard board.

Nice that they got rid of 8x8... I can't believe how much has changed though.

I feel like I'm learning everything from scratch.

Colored woods? LOL

For magery can also look for a suit that has LRC pieces that would add up to 100 LRC then you need no regs for casting spells. Then you can cast spells on yourself or a vendor/tillerman for gains, try to stay with 20% of your magery to spell success chances to get your best gains. Can also equip a wand/- mage wep to lower your magery to stay in a sweet gain zone or use a satyr (by Swoop) to get discorded to also lower your skills by about 29 points just invis once he has discorded you then stay within say 3" of satyr for discord to stay active, the reason for this is its easier to get gains at lower skill levels than it is at higher.

For inscription you can now find talismans as loot on monsters or do the Heartwood quests and they are sometimes given. Look for 1 with a high Inscription bonus ignore the exceptional bonus as its only benefit at this time is to add chance of you putting your chars name on book (whooppee :coco:)

I personally start making spellbooks as soon as my char is able, 1> no more need for regs and 2> even at low levels you could make a superslayer which can easily pay off the scrolls cost.

for inscription staying in the 50% is correct.
i did recalls, then marks, then gates and finally res scrolls.. those sell also..

for more money when i got to the 80s, i made vengefull spirit scrolls.. those sold for more then res scrolls.
i made over 1m selling scrolls while i trained my scribe.

for magery best way to gain is get a -25 mage wep with spell channel and cast protection on yourself over and over till you hit gm.. takes about 5 hours. if it seems to slow down cast invis for awhile.

dont need a boat, dont need a golem, just cast spells. you can gm in one spot.

get a cheap 100% lrc suit with mr and some mana bonus if you can.
