I've been playing this game since it first started in 98 and just recently came back after a 2 year break. after going to destard with my archer to make some money, i was all of a sudden teleported to jail and a GM said I was luring dragons onto another player. so now i'm suspended.

how the hell was i luring dragons?? I'm playing an archer, there are dragons, greater dragons etc on my ass. of course I'm going to have to run when they're attacking me. ohh but according to the GM I'm purposely luring them onto other players.

do they realize this game is in desperate need of new blood? and to just alienate a returning player is not helping at all. I am so done with this game.

My suspicion is the quality of GMs is as variable as ever, and since they have been told to stamp down on 'cheating' but don't know the game well enough to spot what is actually going on, they are reading a description paragraph about 'luring' and assuming it's always the case when someone is being followed by monsters...

A few days ago, I was also accused by another player of luring. No GM action or suspensions though. It was in the Twisted weld and I went into the sand to see if there were any good Cu's to tame--there were none, but on the way out I was followed by a Changeling which attacked a player that was training their pet on Swoop. After I returned to Luna bank--that same person was there and they accused me of luring. So I can see how something like this can be misunderstood. I have been playing this game for 10 years and I try to help anyone I can--I would have been very upset if I got suspended for luring--especially when it was not the case--and never will be!

You must be playing another game if you think we have any sort of 'quality' on the GM team.

There is a list of things the "victim" is supposed to do before the GMs are supposed to act upon a page like this - trying to leave the area and asking you to stop are the obvious two. And luring is something the GM should observe and check it's deliberate rather than accidental, before they action your account. At least, that's my understanding of how it should work.

Correct, though I suspect if we are sharing GM services with all Mythic games it does seem that most GMs are woefully inadequate on understanding how to resolve issues.

I also get the feeling that Mythic is in no rush to fix these GM 'issues'.

Totally true, but sadly, its SO fun to lure monsters to another player. Same as open gates to the ancient wyrms spot when the EMs are giving away items on vending-machine style. Damn, ill probably get a suspension soon.

Forgive me, kind sirs, but is it not part of the game?I acutally find it very smart to lure monsters on someone and get him slain, be it in Felucca or Trammel.That`s a part of the game, and it is up to the person luring to do it right so not to get themselves killed by the monsters.

Was it always that way, from the beginning?Or was this rule implemented with the introduction of Trammel?

Rules, such as this one about luring and the one about "harrasment' (like that thread where a guy was repeatedly invising another player), such rules are rotting the minds of the players.
It seems nowadays any crybaby can get you banned.
I actually feel disgust, and ask myself, well okay, someone is luring monsters on you, so why dont you freaking recall away and go to another dungeon?Who the hell are you, sir gamer, so I`m forbidden to lure monsters of you, thus ruining your game experience while enriching mine?Are you king of Britain or something?

Being a trammy hunter I am fully aware of the luring, and always prepared for someone to lure things in the area I'm in. I see them coming with alot of stuff I hide. If they vis, and my GD cant handle what they lured to me. I wait for the guy to invis, and recall out and let him deal with it. I never page its more fun the way I do it.

Better Idea lets turn felucca into another full trammel faucet. Will call it the alternative trammel, or maybe Tramfel.

If a monster is on you and you run for your life and another player happens to be in the area...your luring.

I can't count the times when I've been minding my own business adventuring in a dungeon and had to run from monsters only to have players accuse me of luring on them.

The whole concept of luring as being punishable should be done away with. There are certain dungeons...Destard being one of them your gonna need to run for you life,espcially with two GD's on you.

Same goes for Labyrinth when Rend has spotted me and the Twisted Weald when I got in the crosshairs of a changeling and a Dryad has nerfed me with their charm. I'm gonna run....

I'll agree, some GM's haven't a clue to what UO is about or it's mechanics. I still laugh on the post of the GM banning the player a few mos ago for giving his dragon 3 or 4 names with the new client, (Ie: one large killing machine, Fred the Red Grasshopper ) Banned him saying you can't have "X" names because it has to be an exploit... Wrong, in the EC client spaces can be added to pet names. It's just great our GM's know soooooo much of the games inner workings .

This is the problem with a trammel ruleset. In fel if someone lures on you you can kill them to get them to stop.

In tram you have no way to enforce player justice, which is why everyone pages.

look at the thread I created, they allow people to spam Luna with books, and harass people playing the game

it is ridiculous, people always complain about the atrocious job the GM's do and EA never ever ever ever does a single thing about it

It's sounding more and more to me like they outsourced GM's from some far away land full of people who and care nothing for what they support.

I work in Tier 3 support. My co outsourced to a non-US country and the support being provided is ... let's just say, very, very lacking. There is never any improvement, and any time you provide information to them how they can improve or if mistakes were made (big ones, too) they attempt to ignore/cover it up.

I really hate outsourced support.

A requirement for this game to be a GM is that you should be a player also.

For an archer dragging spawn would have to run real far and them to stop and reaggro. Not going back to clean up your mess is well a messy situation.

The fact it was Destard and what happened really just shows how Clueless the GMs are on the UO locations. But if the player was working the snakes or the water eli then ya you should be glad for a lil slap. The dragon hole is a large spawn area and there is no reason to run outside the hole.

There is no reason an archer should have to run so far to drop agro unless they need to refresh on drakes and fire lizards before stepping up.

I always thought luring was just part of the game. I've been lured on more times than I can count - and its the only way to get "even" in Tram. Take for example; I'm soloing Miasma with my mage (typically mages don't fight toe to toe with creatures, we stay back), and MR Super Sampire runs in on his swampy and promptly steals the spawn from me. Do I page? Do I whine? NO. I just run up the path a bit, pop some e-bolts on Rend and his repto buddies, and lure them down to Mr Super Sampire - who runs off pulling them all to the entrance with him. You have to have some way to deal with such rudeness- I can't pop him one so I bring him some gifts.
I suppose we need some disclaimer type warning. At the entrance to Destard, for example, place a NPC who screams at everyone before they enter "CAUTION, ENTERING THIS AREA COULD YOU GET YOU ATTACKED BY DRAGONS! ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK! YOUR LIFE AND ENJOYMENT ARE NOT GUARANTEED BEYOND THIS POINT!"

I see alot of crap going on with players cheating with hacks and some are getting banned because they are using gaza's to help with housing floors.But now I see you getting banned because you ran like hell and someone decides to tell a GM your luring unto them? Umm that says alot about the GM's we have in this game and that is get in the real players and not just people who don't know the game.
Alot of pancakes is being done in the General Chat about stop your speed hacking and stop this and that, and sfa is being done about it. Take NEW GM's and get them in the game not just sitting at home doing what ever and don't give a second chance to people who cheat just throw them the &$%# out of game thats it.
When I first started this game back in 98, there was none of this **** going on, but now you get cheaters, hackers and idiots that think thier **** don't smell.
You want to do PVP then fine do it but we don't need to hear all your cussing and swearing all over chat because someone is using a hack or just a plain old cheater.

I say we petition this to the top heads and see what sollution they can come up with.

Seems to me that GM's do whatever they please whenever they want. They make up rules and ban folk for completely stupid reasons then turn around and ignore others for doing the exact same thing or... they do nothing when someone is actually doing something that SHOULD get them banned.... such as cheating, exploiting or purposefully harassing another player and admitting they are doing it ON PURPOSE.

Sadly I'll never understand exactly what their rational is... and I often doubt they know either.

You would think in game experience with GM's is as important as third party programs.

Then again the OP could play in Fel. I don't think luring is bannable in Fel rule set.

And it doesn't matter whether you're in Fel or Tram... the problem is that most people would just rather attack/page first instead of take that extra second to try to figure out whether the poor ******* was getting owned so badly he just needed to run, or he's actually luring.

I didn't have any problem with this game when it was still rated "M".
