Okay so I played UO YEARS ago. I quit. I moved on to WoW. I'm a little bored these days and came across my old disks and stuff for UO. So I'm curious to try out UO again and see how it is and maybe re-activate my subscription.

I know my account and characters are still saved and such. What I'm curious about is if there is any sort of trial promotion or scroll of resurrection or something that will allow me to re-enable my account for two weeks or a month or whatever to try the current game out? I know I could get a NEW trial account. But I don't want to waste my 2 weeks or month or whatever duration it is killing sheep around Moonglow to get my friggen sword skill up, unable to probably trade or join parties or any other "advanced" features that are disabled for trial accounts. I just want to experience the game, as I would play it, if I started paying again. Do I have any options?

P.S. If no such option exists, then consider this a suggestion to the ppl @ UO. You have an opportunity to regain a customer (probably many more than just myself), if there were such an option; don't blow it.

There is a Return to Britannia promotion going on right now until the 16th of October. If your account is in good standing, install UO and login to your old account, then go have a look around. What's more, there's another promotion which will upgrade your account to Mondain's Legacy. Now you won't be able to access the Stygian Abyss expansion content without actually activating and upgrading your account, but the Return to Britannia promotion sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

Hey, thanks. I'll give that a shot. Even if I can't quite see all the new lands/content, I'm sure that will give me a feel for the mechanics of the game outside of the basics. Mostly I'm curious as to how it "plays".

I started playing UO back in Renaissance and played through Samurai Empire (though I really started losing interest beginning with Age of Shadows Expansion, SE was just the last straw). And I remember between that around the Pub16 and AoS time there were HUGE changes in how the game played with respect to itemization and special moves and all sorts of things. And that's what I'm curious about now. Glad to hear I'll get to experience it. See you in Sosaria. :p

Eh.

I think you're exactly the type of player the Return to Britannia promotion is specifically targeted towards.
