Returning player looking for assistance

hello everyone,

i have recently returned to UO after 4 years (sick of WOW missed the housing system as well as the classic game play of my first MMO) but ive found so much has changed...

i have 2 GM characters on the pacific shard (Pally and a Mage/Tamer) and i was wondering where the best places to hunt for gear where? and how i collect these armor sets i been readin about? do they just drop off of any boss type monster?

The first thing you need to do is find out all you can about Mondain's legacy. If you've not updated your account for Stygian Abyss yet, that will be the expansion level you'll restart at.

Start with learning the pros and cons of being an elf (most classes work better as elves)

You need to learn about ML's named creatures and peerless, as they drop the suit pieces (and half the items only drop on the peerless). There were also a few sets that were specific to a 2008 spring cleaning event, where point values were exchanged for parts (and, check out the library collections and the rewards, in Britain, as well as the museum in Vesper, and the Zoo, which also have collections). There is also a set that 7/8 of it drops in the classic anti-virtue dungeons (along with some other artifacts), and the last part (the cape) requires a quest that used to start in Magincia, but currently starts in Trinsic (and turn down the initial reward, when done).

Next, become reacquainted with the Champ spawns - several new tram-rulest ones were added, and all of them (tram & fel) had their gold pumped up, replicas of some of the most overly-duped pre-AoS Event items added as artifact drops and corpse loot from them (as well as the ML set pieces), and the scrolls of transcendency added, that are instant skill gain (replace half the 105s in Fel, drop at the 105 rate elsewhere - and are twice as potent in their fel versions).

Bags of Sending got nerfed, then that nerf was reverted after it proved to only hurt the common player. Gold was made to weigh 1/3 the old amount (so most characters can now carry a full stack of 60,000). BODs and Runic crafting got a major boost, and then there is Imbuing, which allows custom items to be made for use by SA characters.

There's just a slight scratching of the surface of things to look out for.

I just returned a few months ago, though wasnt gone for as long, and once I got a grasp on what I had missed I am loving it again.

I am not sure about pacific shard, but many shards have guilds that help new/returning players get re/aquainted with the game. Some also do hunts for peerless and champs. That might be something to think about, at least while you get on your feet again.

Your probably going to have more questions than you realize once you start getting into the game, so you might want to see about joining a guild with the same interests as you. I can't tell you how many times I've talked to returning players and a simple question turns into several hours of discussing changes because the usually reply is "wait they changed that...how does it work now?". If you decide to upgrade to the newest expansion, you can farm the ingredents to have an imbuer upgrade your equipment.

Anyway.... I would suggest getting yourself familiar with all the new lands.... upgrading what you need...

And try to find yourself a nice mature guild over there.

Iam pretty sure anyone can use the imbued armor and weapons no matter if you have SA expansion or not.
However you cannot train the imbuing skill without having the SA expansion.

OH and as always in these threads... (I cant help it) Make sure you try out the new enhanced client! You will like it very much especially comming back from wow. ( I know I did)
