In beta time if a red killed you he would strip you bare then place the items in a bag on the ground and rez/heal you. They did it for the fun of the hunt.. but that was adults playing UO.
Now the Children run the asylum.
I'm hearing alot of both sides on this and to be truthfull I have played Baja and most major shards and the facts are: HONOR is dead.
The story as I see it was a Lady removed this from her alt characters wardrobe and placed it apon her fighting one. In doing so due to the new insurance menu she failed to double check her entire setup for coverage. As many a GM has told me over the years, Ignorance is not covered under replacement.
Yes I too would return it (but thats because I am a nice person and understand loss of something of great value not meant to be lost by her lack of forsight), but to be blunly honest the party whom looted it had no idea the kettle of fish they were getting into by doing so. Step back all of you and look at what you have told this poor person.
Facts are a Sash of great worth is the target.
1. Did the lady check her armor and items for insurance coverage - the fact she didnt know about the new menu dont wash if your fighting in FEL. ALWAYS CHECK FOR INSURANCE! new/old menu it dont matter.
2. Item was lost -period not insured/blessed
3. Realizing her loss she has now gone crying foul -is the party whom found it responceable for its safe return- NO
Reason: It has nothing to do with how many guilds/raiders/partys lived/died its the fact of her lack of afore mentioned insurance check. You may argue that Honor and Guild alliance etc..
To be Honorable: Return it and forget the whole thing and play again
To be indifferent: Keep it and ignore the rest
To be mean: Cut it up and lay it at her feet
To be Honest there is no solution that will please everyone. Mistakes are made we live to learn from them. This is a game with pixel toys. Grow up and live in game as you would in real life. Is the item yours? Not that you possess it but truly did you get it from fair game play or some other persons hard earned item lost by a glich/mistake.
Honor is being truthfull and honest to yourself, others and in any situation real or game wise.
What ever this person decides is on him/her. You may not call him/her thief they didnt steal it. Dont push, pull, yell, beg, belittle, or threaten them. WE all could be placed in the vicarious position of this and I for one dont envy their decision.
Message to the Lady: Next time you might not be so lucky to have an item you loose found by a player, many monsters take things and dissapear(poof). If you come to FEL dont expect miracles such as this item being returned or even mentioned found. Most would not tell a soul and keep it. When and if they do return it do not forget your manners and thank them with kindness. All truth be known they dont have to do squat.
