Some people come here and post about why they are 'quitting' UO. They have many reasons...some are upset, some have real life commitments, others find new games. All are valid reasons. But I have come here to say goodbye to all of you, because I am not 'quitting' UO...I am retiring from it. For some, this will be good news, for others, sad news. In the end, it does not matter...for I feel that my mark was made upon this game, and the game's mark left upon me. Unfortunately, the game no longer holds any challenge or interest for me in its present state, and I have seen nothing at all to suggest that it will change in any meaningful way to me.

I only post this to say goodbye...no rants, no complaints...just time to move on.

Before you ask, no...you cannot have my stuff...I gave it away already. The PoV tower will stand until the game is shut down as a memorial to all those that have been members, and to all those that have been both friends and enemies. It will be opened to the public for all to see the final home of the PoV. The Protectors of Virtue was a part of my life for almost 13 years, and I will never allow that memory to fade.

Take care, hopefully the game will stay around for many years, and all of you will continue to take enjoyment from it. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Ultima Online...and the people that played it. Sosaria lives forever in the hearts of those that remember.

Also, my final UO story "A Dark Secret" will be completed next week in the Atlantic thread and at www.protectorsofvirtue.com for anyone that followed the tales of the PoV.

Sorry to hear that! We had some great controversial discussions about the Classic Shard, which I will not forget. This topic will now lose a most dedicated and passionate mind.
I can imagine that the reason for your leaving is that UO has turned into a Trammel-item-based-game, and there isn't really a solution for this in sight. Let me just say that I understand your motives.

We've had many a chat Morgana both in game and out on more than a few issues (again both Sosarian and irl) that I found both engaging and enjoyable to say the least.

Should you ever decide to deactivate the account, so that the tower falls, and a guild stone is there, take care of the guild stone before to preserve it for the virtual world (at least redeed it).

Do Not Redeed your guild stone. You will never be able to place it again. The artwork no longer exists. Redeeding may not even work, it may just disappear.

I asked Mesanna about this in person at the Town Hall and that was the answer that she and the other dev's gave me.

My sentiments exactly, Fare Thee Well to the original OP also. I feel I'll be doing the same soon, I'm only at 115 months tho.

If you think Cal (or EA) are concerned, think again. They are of the mentality expressed as "They will always be there". And to a point that's probably true.

I see sooo many vet people leaving the game... I am a "kind" of vet: I am member since 1999 but my account is merely 49 months old. Why? Because I stop game when i get bored or when I haven't much time to play, or when i engage a girl that ... just takes all my free time But I never NEVER say bye bye to the game, because its A GAME and I play when I feel it.

Well, I know why real vet's leave the game: they think about ooold claaaassic UO, where the "crazy" gamers were the Kings,(i remember "sheepdog", and "a dog") and all other players (regularly paying monthly fees to OSI) were the "servants", most of them mining, lumberjacking, getting killed by reds, farming orcs near guards-protected areas.

The few kings were the richest and the most powerful, only them allowed to full enjoy the game. I remember the first arties: noone of us servants could buy them. I just had a small house (the smallest type) in felucca, and was looking at the arties and the castles of the kings. Well, most of the kings were cheaters, or just lucky people with good ping or too much time to play. The game was UNBALANCED, because a game is something for massive enjoyment and not something for cheater kings enjoyment.
Now, you real vets, miss those old times...with few rich and massime poors. But it's you to be old. Think about that: why UO is so old but still on the scene? Because the game evolved. People pay real money, people want to fully enojoy the game.They Want to have the possibility to be a "king" also. It's a virtual world. We all want million gold, castles or towers, powerful artifacts. Before, that was possible only for you. NOW, everyone has the possibility to accomplish that. So, dear old-fashioned powerful people... Fascism is finished, and feudalism too. I think Lord british is also dead... I never see him in the game UO don't need people like you.

I am posting because I agree with Sasha......it's a game, not my world, not another life, not an alter ego......I used to play steady and heavy, but like a hobby, or a passtime, it's profound glory has waned. I still log on, do this, that and whatever, but I log on when I feel like playing, that's all.

I'm not quite sure 'champion' is the correct word. Actually, when someone rants and carries on like she had on numerous threads, it makes people (or Devs) LESS likely to want to do something for them (in my opinion, of course).

I'd suggest finding a champion that is well spoken, intelligent, and has a high moral character for doing the 'right thing' for the right reason. But that's just me.

I am sure there are some here that are very glad to see me go...not sure why they didn't just ignore my posts if they bothered them so much ...but whatever.

The reason I posted this goodbye was to acknowledge the people that I have played the game with, discussed the game with, and gotten to know over the last 13 years. It really doesn't matter to me what these negative people have to say...but the kind words mean a great deal to me.

Morgana, UO is a drug.... one you will find has simular cravings as irl stuff.. oh i think we all can walk away for a week or two, even a few months, perhaps some can stand a few years. But my friend UO craving will still be there and so will the game if WE have anything to say about it.
Enjoy a vacation, read a few good books, watch tv, enjoy life. I expect you back and UO will be here for you.
