Well if the equipment/skills were not lacking, then the tactics obviously were the culprit.
The renowned's aren't Ogre Lords. Welcome to the Abyss, obviously your first time downstairs. Less time being a board warrior and more time in the Abyss and I'm sure you'll get it all figured out.
I can see where getting your ass handed to you in PvM could get boring....
Wasn't getting my ass handed to me, just noted I really wasn't doing any noticable damage to it, despite high damage numbers when hitting. So kinda gave up because I was bored of just wacking it.
Not all the renoweds are like that. Just the Ratmen, and the pixie for all I know (haven't fought them all).
Uhh... My bush archer and normal samurai can do renowneds with little to no trouble... and faster than my mage/tamer. lol

Many of the renowned bosses are easily soloed but some of them have a ton of hit points so they take a long time to kill. The ratmen renowned are very easy to kill as they don't do enough damage to merit being much of a threat. However, they take a good amount of time to kill because they have a good 50000 hit points.

Except its a silly part of the game to require so many templates (and most of them require 720) for so many different things, the cost in PS (stat and skill) and gear is staggering. As far as I can see on a shammy it would easily cost 20+ million to make one properly, then add the time to actually take skills to legendary if you don't use a certain program that most of UO uses.
It is one of the most effective PvM templates in the game right now, but it is stupid because Lord Chaos thinks that Necro and Chiv don't belong on a template together? lol you win! I'll delete mine! I don't think item insurance belongs in UO, so everyone stop insuring your items!!!!! Lol its stupid!

Having Necromancy and Chivalry makes no sense, not even gamewise. And as can be seen it apparently leads to a bit overpowered templates to say the least.
