I've been at the ratmen spawn several times lately trying to get certain ingrediants for imbuing, but I'm finding a problem where players are dragging the mini boss out of the area. I've looked all over for him, but havent found him yet, but this keeps the spawn from respawning. Is there anyway it can be fixed and he can only go so far before teleporting back to the spawn, like champ bosses?

I agree 100% should make them teleport back to the spawn point..should have been that way to begin with so people couldnt lure them away to spot the spawn from respawning..especially since some of the imbuing ingredients seem ton only drop in the mini spawns.

Or a simpler fix, don't make them take as long as a ****ing peerless to kill.

i dont mind their *toughness*.. can take down the rat boss in 10mins with evs and 2 mages.... but myself and others have searched all over the abyss on pacific looking for the boss and cant find him.
All I want is for the devs to make him teleport back to the area if taken past a certain point.

The area itself is really cool and the spawn cycle is fun, however, at current it is also the most broken spawn spot in the Abyss thanks to people dumping the renowned rats thus killing the spawn because the Renowned Rats are themselves broken with the base Ratman loot (and the same chance at imbuing ingredients).

The area is fun... when it works.

Dread Horn is soloable in about 10 minutes. But unlike the renowned ratmen, he's not a total waste of time.

i agree, most of the spawns in the abyss need to be slowed way down.. the boss shouldnt spawn every 5 minutes and take 15 minutes to kill.

The 8 - 10 minutes is fine, just need to tweak the combat a little and give the ratmen a little more offense and the loot level to accomodate.

Then have them port back to their "home areas" if they go out too far.

That (in theory) should handle the worst part of the "broken".

I disagree, at least for now. The renowned's aren't really worth the bother, so I'd just as soon get past killing them and back to killing a fresh round of spawn for ingredients. As it is now, you loot for a pittance, scout around a bit hoping a reward spawned on the ground, and then twiddle your thumbs for a few minutes waiting for the level 1 spawn to start again. (At least, I do. I always try to clean up the majority of the spawn before going after the renowned at the end, kind of on the theory MAYBE there's a better chance at a reward if you've killed all or most of the spawn instead of getting greedy and doing in the boss as soon as he appears shortly after the last level shows up. At many of the spawn locations, there seems to be a finite amount of spawn so that if you clear one area it stays cleared. Therefore,it makes sense to me to kill all of it off and only then kill the boss.)

I'll admit I drag the boss away from the rest of the spawn, but I dont go and hide him somewhere. I drag him to the top.. kill everything else since I am there for ingrediants and then I kill the boss so I can get the respawn.

Yeah, I will drag the renowned out of the thick of the spawn to a quiet spot. For example, if you're killing the archer one, I'll pull it just over the bridge to the quiet spot north of the wolf spawn. I'll also pull the one from the wolf spawn to that same corner. Vitavi I usually pull just around the corner from the plague rat spawn so I can still see where the rats spawn but so that they don't have such an easy time joining in the fray.

That's also a weird aspect of the Cavern spawn... that the lowest level still spawns regardless of what level the spawn is on.

And I also will drag the renowneds away from the thick spawn areas to the outskirts for the purpose of killing them (especially since I will use EoO to help speed up the process).

I can tear through all the spawn (and boss) fast. Using an Undead pally wraith. Vermin slayer tally + overseer sundered blade + EoO + revanent + summons + corpse skin + strangle = a fast stream of big red numbers over the bosses head. Dead in a few minutes tops. I don't even have to drag it off. Just pop curse weapon and whirlwind the helpers. It's one of my more fun PvM templates... very interactive. But I can still die fast if I hit the wrong macro.

There are other bosses in SA that will hand me my lunch tho.

i think you got me wrong.. im not saying the spawn restarts too fast, im saying its too fast getting to the renowned.. say the dragon one.
you get to kill about 15 or 20 faerie dragons.. then the wyrns spawn.. about 5 or 8 of those and the renowned spawns..

they need to slow that down a bit and make it so you can kill the lesser ones for awhile longer to get the ingredients.

Check around the town up where the Slasher of Veils hangs out. I allways lure the Rat boss up their so the slasher can 3 hit kill him (i cant be bothered to waste 1000 arrows for no loot reward) Sometimes the Slasher does vanish halfway through killing him though and the Rat boss is left to wander up there.

The toughness isn't that big a problem to me. I don't kill them fast, about 10 minutes roughly because I haven't gone to the new templates (I am just a plain old pally). I do care that the loot isn't worth it to kill them at all. I also drag him away from the spawn, kill the spawn there, then go kill him because he isn't worth wasting my time until I need to kill him.

wow, thats a total exploit. i'm not trashing you bro, just thinking that
the dev's will surely fix this at some point.

it should rubber band back if it gets to far into suteks area or to the top of the ramp. problem solved.

anyone try to bring the slasher all the way down into the cavern ?

just curious

In addition to Crysta's link, repond slayer works on them too. But you dont find repond on a talisman that I can remeber.

The overseer sundered blade:

Stamina regen 2
HCI 10%
SSI 35%
DI 45%
100% Fire damage

The vermin slayer turns that weapon into a rat slayer. Corpse skin lowers fire resist... so that makes a 100% fire damage weapon even that much more powerful.

All buffed out I can hit for 130-150 damage at maxed swing speed. The template in general is a machine for clearing lots of mid/low end spawn. Great at champs.

Character dependent, it isn't a "hard" spawn at all, but due to concentration of ingediants and therefore players it is a popular site for griefing. There is a myriad of ways to look at the "issue" I suppose, which I believe is access to and attainability of said ingrediants. You can spend quite a bit of time there, "succeed" greatly, and leave with very little, which probably isn't as it should be.
