Most of the sources of the client (especially the KR client) are extremely out of date.

The newest I've found easily is the 2.46.0.3 build, on largedownloads.ea.com in the UO folder (it's an anonymous FTP). It dates from August 2007.

Is there any chance that you could get the most recent 2D & KR builds on the FTP, so that people don't have to go through 18 months (20 months with an older source) of patching to reinstall UO?

There's already someone posting over on Player's Corner, about the fact that, even with broadband, their download and install will take longer of KR, than their TRIAL ACCOUNT will last, given that they started with the 2.45.x.x build and STILL haven't gotten to 2.46.0.3 , several days later.

Surely the problem is on their end, not EAs?

I downloaded the client from downloads.com and had to patch. It took about a hour on my broadband account to patch up to the current patch.

If someone is having that much trouble patching it must be a problem with their connection or computer. I have patch from a old copy of UO on disk that I have and it didn't take more than 2 hours.

Ihave to agree with this, an updated download can't be that hard to arrange, surely? I mean there may be more to it than I assume, but it would be nice if there was an updated download.

I'm going to have to be downloading it all again once I get a new PC, and I don't look forward to the ~2 weeks it will take to patch, especially KR!

Err... check the address again - that's an ea.com FTP site.

It's too bad it isn't smart enough to simply skip to the newest version of each file when it downloads ... it's sad be redownloading the same giant graphics files patch after patch on a new install.

(er ... unless it is smart enough ... my memory of my last clean install is a little fuzzy now)

The fileplanet KR installer is much more recent than the version on EA FTP. Still needs a lot of patching, but not nearly as much as the one on largedownloads.

Actually, EA removed the link to largedownloads entirely from the KR website. I suppose we should take this as a suggestion that the largedownloads FTP is not officially supported as a download location for the KR client anymore...
