Regarding the SDI bonus for pure mages

If the SDI bonus is capped at 30% and I have inscribe (which comes with 10% SDI bonus), do I only need to incorporate 20% SDI into my suit to reach the final cap of 30% SDI?

Does accomplishing 30% SDI on items alone negate the inscribe bonus or does the inscribe bonus come in addition and separate from the 30% SDI bonus (for pure mages), which would make the total bonus come to 40% SDI?

I would like to know if inscribe is included in the calculation for the SDI bonus for pure mages.

If the TOTAL cap was at 30%, covering the SDI in items would render the inscribe useless.

Or if inscription comes in addition to the 30% you might be doing 40% TOTAL spell damage.

Does anyone know exactly what it is?

Inscribe counts as 10% of your SDI cap.

It's funny how many people are saying different things... not just in this thread, I mean in general..

ya, a lot of people either do not read the release notes, or do the testing.

The Inscription bonus stands alone. It was not counted towards the cap before the pure mage bonus, and does not count as part of the cap now.

This is the only information I found pertaining to this.

"Focus Skill Spec (PVP)

Increase of spell damage increase cap from 15% to 30% (Reduced from TC 40%) for templates that focus in only one spell school. Focused players, having no more than 30.0 modified skill points in another main skill set will be able to benefit from the raised cap.Main skills include: Magery, Necromancy, Mysticism, Ninjitsu, Bushido, Animal Taming, Musicianship, Chivary, Spellweaving. Secondary skills also count towards focus spec such as: Focus, Spirit Speak, Imbuing, and Evaluate Intelligence."

From here:

"reduced from TC 40%."

I am leaning towards this.

Originally, it was intended to allow 40% SDI plus incribe equaling a total of 50% SDI... which they thought was too high after studying test center, so they reduced the cap to 30% but left inscription as a stand alone bonus... allowing a current cap of 40% SDI.

There is some confusion among the folks I have run this by so I just wanted to make it clear for us.

A developer response would be appreciated.

Thanks you.

SDI, from ITEMS, has a cap. SDI from skills, does not.
SDI ITEM cap is 30% for FOCUSED mages in a PvP setting.
SDI ITEM cap is 15% for non-focused mages in a PvP setting.

skills and stats do not have an SDI cap and add to the 15%/30%, (even in a PvP setting)

other sources of SDI (not pertaining to items):
(evaluating intelligence x 3) / 100) + 1 = SDI from eval int*
(intelligence / 10) = %SDI from INT (10% at 100 int)
(inscription / 10) = %SDI from inscription (10% at GM)

*evaluating intelligence acts as a multiplier and is not just flat percentage addition. for example, with the given formula, at 120 eval x 3 = 360/100=3.6+1=4.6; therefore, spell damage will be multiplied by 4.6 of the base damage of the respected spell.

take fireball, assume it's base damage is 5. 5x4.6=23. then all SDI% from INT, inscription, and item will be added to the new adjusted amount.

sdi from int: 23x.1(from int)=2.3+23=25.3
sdi from scribe: 25.3x.1(from scribe)=25.3+2.53=27.3

finally, items will be considered. you can wear as much SDI gear as you want, but in a PvP setting, an item cap will persist depending on being a focused mage or not. here are the two artificial values with the given formulas:

sdi from items (focused mage 30% cap): 27.3x.3=8.19+27.3= 35.49 damage
or
sdi from items (non-focused 15% cap): 27.3x.15=4.095+27.3=31.395 damage

hope this helps.
