Regarding the "satire discord" trick to help gains

Hi all,

I have a char that I am working up Tinkering on and another that I'm working up Lockpicking on. I'm aware of the trick of using locked boxes made by a Carpenter with Tinkering at either 70 or 75 skill, and then getting discorded in Twisted Weald to finish the last .5 in Lockpicking. I've seen posts that say 70 and others that say 75 Tinkering for making these locked boxes....

Soooo.... can someone settle this for me - or would either 70 or 75 do?

I always use GM made boxes, they work just fine. You break a few lockpicks, but I usually have a couple hundred with me, so not biggie. I carry that many because I do a lot more than just my last .5 there. :)

Oh and to answer your question directly, I believe either will do.

Ok, thx Nyses - appreciate the input. :)

You don't need that trick anymore to GM lockpicking because the developers changed the requirements on lockpicking a few patches ago. I gm'ed it finally from miasma chests where prior to the patch only GM's could open them. The crystal ball of Knowledge shows miasma chests as easy so lockpicking charts written prior to the changes are out of date. I think it was the patch for treasure hunting changes.

I seem to remember when I was working tinkering that I made a bunch of barrel taps and turned them in for heartwood root quests to get talismans and recipe scrolls. You're working a discorded tinker or the discord was for the lockpicker only?

Interesting - and thx Lorax. The discord trick was going to be used for my 99.5 Lockpicker and my 99.5 Cartographer. (Sorry - my original post included nothing about the Cartographer, since I was more interested in info regarding the making of the locked boxes with the proper level Tinkerer).

Just go to the dungeon and pick locks. With GGS, takes 5 days at the longest to get it done.

Soulstone all skills off but magery and LP, and go to town. Will take no time at all.
