Reforging and Imbuing

Hello everyone. I have recently returned to UO and am happy that I did. Alot has changed. I have tried to read here and other sites as much as possible but still am a little confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My top questions are:

1) Is there a difference between imbuing and reforging, or is this two terms for the same thing?

2)Is it best to start with crafted items or looted items, or depends?

3) What is considered the best order to run items, I know enhance last and use the special hammer, what is optimal for best results?

I will be doing plenty of experimenting, but am looking for an experienced nudge in the right direction.

Thank you so much for reading, I apologize in advance if I am asking something that someone has already covered. I have read and printer for re read the charts and tables, was kinda hoping someone could cut thru the tape for me and say, look friend, heres the nitty gritty of it.

Best

1. Yes. With reforging it allows you to add properties that cannot often be imbued. 5 HCI on armour for example. You can also reforge properties over the imbuing cap. MR3 on armour for example when the max you can imbue is MR2.

2. Craft exceptional items then imbue / reforge. In some cases you can find loot items and imbue more mods onto them. Swing speed increase for example.

3. Craft items, POWDER OF FORT to 255. Imbue then enhance. OR Craft items, reforge, imbue, enhance. It depends on what you are making.

1) Reforging is the process of adding properties to an item with a runic tool at a soul forge. Most items with magical properties already cannot be reforged, but some can (eg +5 mining gloves). Imbuing is the process of adding properties to an item using imbuing ingredients at a soul forge. Magical and non-magical items can be imbued but there are restrictions on the number of properties (5 max) and the combined strength of the sum of the properties (usually 500 for exceptional crafted gear or jewelry).

2)It is best to start with exceptional crafted gear, but some loot is worth imbuing such as 1/3 fastcast/recovery jewelry. Exceptional armor for instance has higher resists that don't count towards the total 'imbuing weight'.

3)Craft-Reforge-Powder-Imbue-Enhance-Refine (Note: enhancing is very risky unless you pay real $$ for a 100% success tool from the Origin site)
Craft gear from plain resources (iron/leather/plain wood). For armor it is best to sort through many crafted exceptional pieces to get the right resist distribution for the complete suit before reforging. It may take many reforging attempts to get the property at the level you want (there are some good posts on these forums regarding which runics to use for which properties). Imbue the most 'costly' properties first when you have a high success chance (eg those using relics. Note: special ingredients are not consumed in failure, but gems and residue/essence & relics are). Enhancing is very risky (very high chance you will destroy your creation) unless you pay real $$ for a 100% success tool from the Origin site. Finally refinement can increase the total suite resists or DCI at the expense of a decrease in the respective property.
