AoS was a great addition to UO for me. The game was becoming boring and needed the change. Adding more roles to the game is what gave it so many possibilities. To me it did not change to many things, simply added to the game.
When Trammel and Fel split, I would have made Fel alot more dangerous, like random bally invasions, intelligent NpC reds and blues and thieves, also added into Trammel, so that the feeling of the game would have stayed the same.
Side note: Like imagine hunting an elder gazer and incomes an NpC red, in Trammel, whack, ooOooOOO, or out of nowhere an Npc pops up and then turns grey and vanishes and you notice your missing your gold and maybe something else.
The problems with the changes is that some things changed. I don't mean the items, I mean the feeling and the purpose, or that little extra that was now gone. They should of made it so that all of these things worked and were not just left out because of the split.
So, basically, there's a list of things that changed and everyone remembers something that they can no longer experience and that's why i'm writing this post. I think all of those things should be fixed.
When your in Fel and kill someone, the corpse is empty. Before AoS you would have found loot and people would have fought over that loot. I say drop the insure money on the corpse and a random artifact, rarely, that is cursed with low durability.
Create these NpCs for Trammel. A list of different types of players, like a tamer/archer or a thief/fencer/poisoner, Give them names like, animal and the poisoner and spawn them and use these new NpCs in the bounty system, also create heros for Felucia, the most hated by the villans so that reds can also bounty in a reverse role-play.
Here's one that I think made people leave, they created Trammel but allowed guild Pks. In my opinion, insanity. This was the demise. It also makes factions worthless and a joke and just feeds the people no one likes, sorry it's true.
Make a system of Order, Neutral and Chaos. If you join the Order guilds or Faction you can not Pk, steal or loot that of same, and this alone will fix all the problems. You don't like it? Then join one of the other Factions, it's choice.
In the Neutral guild you have a mix, like factions is now and in Chaos you have to be real bad, maybe earn membership by Lord kills or from Neutral guild.
So, basically, if your in an Order guild and guy kills you, you get a gump, a member of your guild/faction/alliance has killed or stolen from you!!! Report?
If you report, he's out and stays out for X number of days, simple.
In Neutral you get a couple reports and in Chaos you just don't worry about it. It's ok to kill and steal and talk crap.
This would allow for people to work as a team and become friends, changing factions and guilds into what they were meant to be. A way to inter-connect or assemble with their beliefs and true nature and be able to stand for what they believe and not have that ripped away by another.
