Recently Back to UO. Questions about Shards

So I just logged in for the first time last nite in about 7 months and I'm considering becoming active again, but I noticed my shard seems pretty dead, and if I'm going to come back I'll want to play somewhere that theres alot going on. I'm going to guess most of the traditionally more populated shards are still considered as such, but I figured it wouldnt hurt to ask

Any thoughts on which shards are the most active currently?

I know atlantic is considered the most populated shard.

Europa is not an option for me as I live in EST and dont want to be playing while 95% of the population is sleeping.

So any thoughts

Great Lakes seems okay as long as you remember most hang in Luna, not Britain.

It seems every shard spends its idle time in luna these days, which makes me sad....i miss the days of wbb, but oh well.

I've considered Atlantic as that was my original shard and the one i was on the longest, but the population there is almost too high.

Great Lakes could work, as could chessy, or cats. I'm on Ls currently and it just seems empty but I want to get an idea for whats happening on other shards before I decided to up and move everything, which as I'm sure many know is quite the undertaking.

Hey Demon! Hope you've been well! Oh you know I'll be there!

Good to see you again.

Atlantic is the most populated shard so I would assume that it is the most active. Really, it depends on what you are looking for this time around. Each shard has it's own flavor with some more RP or PVP oriented, etc. Personally, I think Atlantic is well rounded (even if the economy is overinflated compared to most other shards).

Going to pop in during the holiday an expect an actual population there. Want to see what shard is active with friendly players? Create a charcter and run about the shard. The housing of a shard tells half of its story, style and amount. The way players on a shard act to another player not in the latest gimp wear also tells something. Asking on the world chat if someone could get a new character a simple blue beetle will tell you loads about that shards population.

hey tazar, good to see you too!

you know me, i like to sell sell sell, and dabble in some rares here and there, so thats going to be my focus this time around most likely, although maybe some more community involvement time permitting, so perhaps atl is the right spot for me. it would be nice to come home again as well! just have to find a good active alliance for me.

thank you for the advice warpig, but as ive been away for awhile id prefer to get some input from other players as to what they believe/have observed before i go look around myself first hand. which isnt to say i havent perused LS and ATL already.

Not on the Asian shards. On Yamoto especially New Haven is always packed and WBB gets a lot of use, more than luna from what i can tell.

Everyone has been hanging out in Brit the last few weeks watching for the Solstice Stag on LS.. if you ran by Luna of course it would look dead. Not to mention it's always dead around Christmas, and you should know that by now.

In my opinion, Atlantic is the most populated and most active overall.

id consider siege, but id like to be able to take my current chars and items with me w/o having to work everything up all over again, although i suppose there are ways to make it work. something to consider at least.

galen, ty for the input. ive played on gl a few times in the past but always short term and had a good experience each time.

how are housing costs there currently? last i was there they were ridiculously high...

Umm...

Higher than LS?

lol

Sorry I can't be of much more help. I lucked out twice. First I found an open plot west of Luna in which I placed a shack. Then, someone else found for me a plot in one of the mountainous, beautifully snowy area east of Luna, in which I placed a log cabin which is now beautifully arranged and decorated thanks to a guildmate.

Man... first Galen now possibly DVI relo'ing from LS to GL? What's an East Coast bard to do... hmmm.... how is the RP over there on GL old friend? Right now the only thing really keeping me on LS is my house on magencia beach didnt want to give that up until I see how the rebuilding event goes. I did very well on vendors/regs etc during the last events!

The RP for the most part has been quite good.

I'm from ATL originally, so prices on LS at least as I remember them are cheap by comparison. Plus, I'm only looking for a home in specific locations so it may take awhile before I find something suitable. Although I would consider something not quite ideal in order to at least get things transfered and set up.
