lag lag lag lag lag!!! I had no problem all night last night dealing with lag. I leave game and come back after maint and now I have soooo much freakin lag that it's not even funny.

I've cleared my CC cache, did a disc clean up, defragmented my computer only to log back in game and still LAG! I'm lucky if my sim moves 1 inch every 5 freaking minutes.

And I know for a fact its not my internet doing it so I don't want to hear that excuse from Devs.

Back in beta days, we had lag issues.. why? 2 many sims in 1 city on the same server and yet.. here we are again.. ALL sims in 1 city and on 1 server! Would be nice to play a game I PAY FOR without missing half of what is said and over half of who comes and goes in the house. *CRIES*

Anyone else having these issues today with lag?

I hear ya. Not sure that there is anything you can do though except we all sympathize with you. Nothing anyone else can say more.

[/ QUOTE ]Are you so sure of that? It may not be your internet connection that's causing the problem, but it's likely someone else's connection. Keep in mind that when you connect to the game server, you are not making a direct, straight-shot connection. Rather, your data is being bounced around from server to server somewhere within the internet before it even reaches anything controlled by EA. If you are unfortunate enough to live somewhere where your data packets have to travel through congested paths to reach the EA-Land server, there's really nothing that the devs can do about that. Another thing to be mindful of: The fewer hops the congestion is from the EAL servers, the more people are going to be affected.

Question: Does anyone happen to have the IP or DNS for the EAL game servers handy? Being able to do a TRACERT to the game server would be handy in diagnosing connection or lag issues.

im sorry to hear your experiencing lag like this it happens to me at times...try going to a diff lot in a city map other then charvitia (the original ea land city) since that is always the most populated one...i have a house in the alphaville map and i hardly get any lag like I do in charvitia

though that can be just me

I didnt get lag earlier today, but right now I am making jams and everyting skips a step or zooms real fast. Then it runs normal speed for a while.

Sometimes the lag hits individuals. I have a friend who is extreme laggy a lot more often than I am.

Thats why some will dismiss what you are experiencing. It is frustrating though.

It's your connection, or some combination of what Katheryne said.

I haven't lagged at all since the last anti-lag patch.

T3 connection is nice though. Still, I was lagging back when the lag was at its peak.

I have the ones I used to use when it was TSO, not sure if they will still work but here they are:

Tsoav2-pub.use1.tso.iad.ea.com
Tsoav2-pub.eatc.tso.sjc.ea.com

As I said, not sure if they will still work, but that is what I have used before EALand.

[/ QUOTE ]Thanks. Not sure if they point to the same thing anymore since they appear to be the former Alphville servers, but -- tracert to them still works, and EA appears to still own them, so the tests should be valid.

Anyways, I just tracerouted the first server, and experienced high latency at three points just downstream of EA's server, so this pretty well proves my explanation.

Who ever is experiencing lag can you please tell me what kind of internet connection you have, your ping times, and your current ram on your computer.

Ahah.....

Ok Katheryne, Comcast is a very good ISP for online gaming, you probly know that.

Your pings are actually fine according to standards, 110 is very reasonable for you. only gamers who play first person shooters need those 50 ms pings which help.

I am 99% certain that you are experiencing these lag/latency diffuculties because you are on wireless. Users may loose up to %50 of download/upload and also can cause delays with your internet.

I strongly suggest you switch to a direct connection via your modem or router to get you going back up to speed. Alternativly, if you cannot at all go direct, try going to bestbuy, circuitcity, or your electronics store to buy a new router, look for one with maxium wifi capibility, and also maximum gaming.

Also, always scan your computer for spyware/malware/trojans, these may slow your computer down up to 60%.

It also may be your dsl/cable settings are not setup correct, please go to this link and run a TCP test-
TCp Test

Copy and paste your results here.

Then download TCP Optimizer- Optimizer

And I'll tell you what to change.

I'm consistently pinging my ISP's gateway at between 11ms and 34ms, so I can assure you that there is nothing wrong with either my internet connection, my router, or my wlan.

I'm also running Vista, with RWIN being auto-tuned, so the optimizer is not going to be effective.

However, here are my results, FWIW:
