The articles below are related to the Village of Ravenshire and the Necropolis at Shadowfel. These articles were retrieved from the Freeborn Press Archives.
The Village of Ravenshire was a small, but vibrant player-run community hidden in the woodlands north of Vesper (known to some as the Windemere Woods). It was built by a community of individuals, known as the Clan of Keltic Knights, under the leadership of Lady Bronwyn and Maston Semper. They were a people who had hoped to escape the desolation and corruption of the Old World, and start a new life in the peaceful forests of the New.
A common theme that ran through the community was an appreciation for Celtic lore and mythology. Many members roleplayed characters such as Gypsies, Druids, Dryads, and Woodsmen; their names drawn from Celtic and Medieval legends.
In the final days of the village, Galen Kai Tan (Galindar) and the Lumarians returned to the realm and set their sights on Ravenshire. Having been established on almost the same location as the Lumarian Kingdom had been in the Old World, the Lumarians chose to dwell amongst their proverbial sister-city and re-establish themselves with the aid of the Circle of the White Raven.
Ravenshire, and the Lumarians, largely disappeared following the Age of Shadow's expansion; although the last building would not collapse until 2007. Interestingly enough, the spirit of Ravenshire doesn't seem to have completely died off. Katrina D'Antres, the adopted daughter of Galindar, has established a new home on the very site where the Palace of the White Raven once stood.
Ravenshire was also host to many guilds, including but not limited to:
Shadowfel, on the other hand, was established south of the City of Ravenshire, on the easter-side of the Vesper River Delta. The city was established almost overnight by Emperor Azalin Lore and his wife, Lady Cymidei Fier. Shadowfel was an interesting addition in this period, a time where the Dark Tower slumbered and evil-guilds were largely non-existant. It was from here that Azalin and Cymidei launched their attack upon the realm.
The first battle was the Serpents War, in which the Knights of the Silver Serpent and the Lost Order of Asha'man retaliated against the advances of the Shadow Imperium. The war ended with the Shadow Imperium destroying its enemy, although Azalin was killed by an assassin following the battle (and wouldn't recover for some time yet). Cymidei retaliated by nearly burning the Golden Brew to the ground.
With the defenders of the light crushed, and Lady Gwain of the Tusan now serving the Imperium, Azalin and Cymidei set their sights upon Ravenshire. It was at this point that the Kingdom of Dawn, which rarely intervened in affairs in the New World, send a small contingent of the Knights of the Blue Rose to the Windemere to discover what was going on. Malthonion I Sunstrider, a Knight of the White Dragon, spied Lord Hellrazor of the Blue Rose in the Woods of the Windemere; an encounter that set into motion a number of events (and largely changed the path of this young roleplayer, who would soon join the Kingdom of Dawn on another character, being so impressed by the Knights of the Blue Rose).
Although some preliminary attacks would occur - including an attempt by Cymidei Fier to collect eight large pieces of blackrock to use against her enemies, and her capture and corruption of the young knight Malthonion - the storyline would die out due to real-life troubles on both sides (Cymidei's computer dying, and Lady Bronwyn's home burning down). Once events resumed, the City of Ravenshire had largely fallen into ruin, Castle Fier was sold, and Cymidei Fier would be called once again to serve the Dark Tower under Mistress Ivy Shadowfare.
