Raptor Taming - Whats the Deal?

Ok I went out to get a raptor or two. Figured it would be easy. Well they always seem to spawn two friends....no probs for my old mare. However, I just could not seem to get the tame. Very few starts even. Stratics taming diff is listed at 65ish for fresh....this just doesnt seem correct. I am 115 Taming 110 Lore. Did they change?

It's quite possible that some changes were made to the new pets between the beta and final launch so I think more testing is going to be necessary.

I'm not upgraded as yet, so I can't help with that yet, but I'm sure some tamers will be posting up stats pretty soon

When I tamed them in the Open Beta, I do not recall ever failing to get a tame started (Lore=120, Taming=120).

I did configure my Character to be a Peace Tamer and peaced the Raptor first as it is an aggressive mob.

Then they added Pact Instinct some time after the close of Open Beta.

As has been mentioned, the information may be incorrect, because of changes made at the last minute.

Just curious, did you roam around the area south of the New Character City, I think it was across some bridge then nw around some Mountain and you come to a place with a LOT of Raptors. It is rather largish and there are spots to cut out a Raptor for taming. In this mode I had my character configured for a Stealth Tamer to check things out.

well i tried the area you are in with 115 tame 110 lore and 50+ attempts with peace tamer and finally gave up as i have said in earlier post i would rather tame a GD there easier for me than these things

You're having bad luck then.

I just tamed me a pair, got one of them on my first non-"you have angered" attempt, and got the second one on my second attempt.

And I didn't get any more "you have angered" messages than I would for a dragon or rune beetle.

I'm seriously unimpressed with their performance so far. But to be fair, they only have 70 wrestling and tactics as of now.

Hmmm. I failed a shed loads of times at 115 taming and angered then blighters more often than not. Must have taken me dozens and dozens of attempts (and 5 deaths) before I got a pair.

Farmer Nash in the Holy City is a great source of lone raptors for you guys.

I tamed one yesterday while doing the farmer quest. took a bit at 120/120. i will tame one more and than work them up next week on a shadow ele.

im interesting to see what they can do as a pair. (2 slots each). they seem to move pretty quick, sorta like a frenzied but with more hp.

Three things to consider:

-Jewel up (I couldn't tame one with my 112 tamer so I switched to my 120 tamer and got one fast)

-Don't tame the ones the original raptors spawn (they'll disappear after you tame them and you'll need to get another)

-Every time you aggro, or they get mad, they will try to summon 1-2 more raptors


Also, for those that don't have one, get a macro:

-Use Skill Tame
-Last Target
-Toggle War (Makes it so your wep doesn't hit if you succeed on Tame cycle)
