Random Poisoning? Bug?

the "trick" is probably an area poison attack that we haven't figured out how to use properly yet = the dread was attacking another of your pets in the stables and used its attack (which it obviously knows how to do right)

either that or more likely they reused the animation for an area poison attack for the trick animation

- in which case, still I have to ask why re-occurances aren't being reported?

Unless I have misread any of the posts in this and other threads, or have made a mistake in monitoring my own tamers, I keep arriving at that same old question. So far, it doesn't seem to be a cronic reoccuring disease.

This is extremely interesting. We just went from a potential account/character related bug to an apparent area of effect bug. The plot thickens

Aibal, you're the first player to report experiencing reoccuring damage/deadly poison to one character!

Two Questions:

1. The Tamer who is experiencing this every time she logs-in, does she have one or more Dread Warhorses or banes?

2. Your 7 tamers on three shards-- are they all on the same account?

Aibal, you've just knocked the wind out of the theory that it's a one time occurance.

I wonder if the random poisoning is esculating or if there is something one is doing that innoculates the character against it hitting them more than once.

Just logged into my 4 tamers that I have not been on in months. 2 of the 4 took hits of 27 & 48 as I logged onto them, the other 2 nothing at all, 3 on Dread mares, 1 not. Relogged onto each chara & did a recall with each, 3 no changes, BUT one that was not on any ride, or lost life when I logged onto him the 1st time, when I recalled with him, he landed poisoned & at least 1/2 life, went down to less then a 1/4 life before I casted Arch Cure which did the trick. It was lethal for ea tick was about 20+ (When I say months at least 4 to 6 since they were all last on)

Another of my tamers was hit, also on logging in and doing nothing else. Was looking at my runebooks in my pack. It was non-poison damage this time, same amount of damage 40-50ish.

Tamer does own a dread war horse.

Well, since yesterday I have not been able to repeat it on that particular tamer, so the theory may be sound, and I had a glitch. In that particular case, I logged onto her for the first time in a week. She was immediately poisoned, took about a 40 pt hit. I arch cured, logged, jumped on her again, and it happened again. I then started check my tamers on other shards/accounts (tamers are split on two accounts). It happened to none of my other tamers. I then logged back on the original, recalled to Skara, went to get my Cu out of the stable, and it happened again. At that time I came here to see if I could find anything about it, and found this thread. I was at work the remainder of the day and had a night meeting, so I didn't try again until this morning. As of today, I cannot repeat it on that tamer in spite of trying 4-5 times. I would discount my case as an anomoly. I've had no other issues on any other tamers.

I don't own a rune beetle or dread warhorse, yet it hits me everytime I pull a pet out of the stable cu or dragon even the kirin.

He cast cure on himself three times.
but no luck - - oooOOo o dead!

Deadly Poisoned upon log-in

He was holding in the stables the following pets:

a dread warhorse (tame) not guarding.
Ki-rin (guarding)
Nightmare (guarding)
Nightmare (tame)
Beetle (guarding)
a forest ostard

I checked all my characters before when this bug started, and this one wasn't poisoned on Log-in. But, tonight ? .. wham!

Also before, I didn't know at that time to tell all pets to stop and stay before stabling them so they would stop guarding while in the stables; so some of his pets were guarding; the dread wasn't.

That dread wouldn't bond because my character didn't have enough taming skill so it is only (tame) thus was never (guarding)

So maybe the Dread doesn't like the nightmares in the stables still guarding? Wonder if that has anything to do with DPD?

Maybe others will get hit
as they log in characters to collect Xmas Tickets.
Maybe more of mine too. hahaha Oh how I love UO!

Holy **** it just happened to one of my characters.

Tamer on Atlantic who I had not logged into in like, about a month. Had logged in the Luna inn. He was dying fast, taking repeated hits from a hard hitting poison. Barely got him cured in time (he's half dressed so a bit low on both LRC and poison resistance, owch).

Owns a dread, rune beetle, but no bane. Had no pets out at the time, was sitting on an ethy horse. Neither the beetle nor the dread had a "guarding" flag when I pulled them out of the stable to check.

He's never been to the revamped Shame nor ever seen a giant turkey.

I was logging characters in so that I could get the holiday tickets spawned, since I quite liked the customizeable signs.

I updated that spreadsheet thingie.

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but just got hit by this poisoning bug when I logged into a tamer character that I copied to Test Center quite a few months ago. She was hit by the bug on Napa when we got the Shame publish. Now her six-month old copy on Test Center just got hit by it again.

I was about to check my stables for that White Wyrm Thread to see if my old WW eats coins. Now this again???
Will make sure all Dread War Horses are NOT GUARDING in stables. Or is this a new frandom deadly poison bug?

While checking for two prepatch WWs' stats today - I discovered ALL PETS in Two of my old Tamers' Stables had REVERTED from "bonded" to "guarding". That includes two dread warhorses which were, and still are, suspect in the Random Poisoning bug. They should not be stabled in the guarding mode.

What could have happened to revert every pet to being back in the guarding mode again?
Have I done something wrong when stabling them?
I had been very careful about making sure ALL my pets were told to STOP and STAY before stabling them.
I even went so far as to check them again right after stabling them. They showed 'bonded'. Not 'guarding'. Then I checked carefully all my tamers' stables later, again and again, r to be sure all pets were still 'bonded' and not guarding. After which, I haven't been checking those stables again until just now. I f I used a tamer and a pet I made sure to stable it not guarding.

Looks like I'll be working the next while on fixing all stabled pets -

Ok have had it happen again now to a tamer with no dread no rune bug no GD just a mare and a normal dragon..... this is getting old fast. It's hit about 9 of my tamers so far. I am afraid to log in the others .... only one was able to escape the death part... was a rare time lag was minamal. Even the tiny tamers are getting hit.. no pets but for a pony.

Lady Storm: Are ANY pets in your stables in 'guarding' mode if or when you claim them? I found ALL my pets had reverted to 'guarding' mode when I checked tamers on two old accounts but they have been on line working for City Loyalty Gains. I am surprised they haven't been hit with the random poisoning bug yet too.

Something is still going on with this random poisoning bug obviously.
I will try log in all ten of my tamers today and work with them on line off and on, to see if they get hit with the poisoning bug and while at it, will also check their pets' status. Some of my tamers do not have a dread mare in their stables so I haven't logged them in yet.

Could the random poison bug be related to the '(guarding)' mode of ANY number of stabled pets? I'll check all my stabled pets later tonight.

It seems it hits any tamer who has not been logged in over 30 days... many of the tamers i have been checking stables to see what is where ... making spread sheet of pets and who has what.... When my main 120 tamer was hit it surprised me as I run her alot... nearly killed me but was calm as it had happened before and i didnt panic this time... got off a cure and didint die. I want to know what Dev has it out for tamers??? this is not funny guys.... I will have yanaki introduce you to his little friend! *wack*

OKAY Let's get that Dev-il !! I checked all my tamers and all their stabled pets, then logged on various tamers and kept them on line doing things for awhile but nothing poisoned any one of them yet.. So .. more questions:

In which world are your tamers stabling their pets? Felucca, Trammel or both?
Is the poisoning happening mostly on certain shards? Are others on the same shards having the problem too?
Is it happening on Sonoma for example? Do you have a tamer on this shard?
Has anyone had this happen on Sonoma recently or on other shards.

I don't think I would want to be a Dev trying to figure this bug out. All I can think of is question after question and guess at what might be causing all the problems. Wish a dev would ask us to test certain things for them. lol

One thing I haven't tried yet, is stable and claim pets in Felucca City stables - - will test that tomorrow.

Shards : Origin,Baja,Sonoma,Napa,Chessy, Atlantic, Catskills, Siege, Oceania, few of the other tamers on Hokuto didtn get it as two of the Origin ones did 1 didnt. All are stabled in Tram except for Siege. But I have taken them out of all facits stables and have been around the planet with them. It didnt hit every tamer in a row mind you... this has been going on for quite some time. IT hits when it wants to, no warning. Only my Catskills tamer so far has escaped the poisoning by swift thinking, but I had her out only days before and she was fine when I loged out. Its random in its tamer and time it hits.. always when you log in and you do not have time to think fast enough most times before your dead. At first I thought my son was using his mage to play a prank on me ... I was in my private home and no access to it for anyone else but for him.... only he was sound asleep and his comp was on the main floor away from his bed and he would have had to cross my door to get down or up.... soooo when it struck a second time I was very much reading the journal. Not one clue as to what caused it. No spell words, no spawn , not a single reason for the tamer to die to poisoning.

That is how the deadly poisoning bug WAS randomly hitting all my tamers before. It seemed to have stopped for me. How about everyone else. Not everyone is reporting what is happening to their tamers in here and it would sure help if they would speak up.

Nothing further with the random deadly poison bug has hit any of my tamers for a long time (*touches wood*) Even claiming pets from Felucca stables has caused no change.

What is happening to you is enough to make one paranoid and begin to seriously suspect someone responsible, like a DEV - IL , having a vendetta against you.

I will keep watching for any clue to why that bug is hitting you all the time. Hope more people come forth with their experiences. Wish I had a made tamers on other shards just for this purpose. Hmm... use my character transfer token to transfer some of my tamers to other shards?

I haven't had anything happen to my tamers since the initial hits. I still do everything the same way I did before the bug hit, so I guess we'll see...

Stable costs. These are updated every so many days. There is a bad pointer in the stable cost routine that is referencing the lethal poison routine. Luckily, it is not deleting everything in your bankbox, instead.
