Just exactly how many plants can these care for at one time, and will plants actually produce resources (Seeds/Petals/Etc) while in them?

Raised Garden Beds

A question I have about garden beds is how to you obtain these? Are these given as part of the purchase or is there a quest or something you have to do in-game to obtain them?

well sorry I'm still trying to figure out why they cost so much and thought maybe I'm missing something. And I'm responding to this not as a joke but as a honest question.
but yes the planters them selves are of use for very small scale plant farmers it would be nice to buy just the still and planters if they can be used with out the rest of the package. I would hope maybe someday we can buy them for like $1.99 each..
And money is not the issue with me I have plenty to spend on UO...
I am thinking a better idea would be. To hire a farmer you pay x amount of gold. They come to your house you give them X amount of seeds, they then grow and harvest for you. Provided you have water, potions, and dirt, layed out for them to work with. Once there done they leave. Then you can go back and hire another one.

I would think that they are trade-able, but a non upgraded account couldn't place it or use it. The items will probably work like vet rewards. You can own the item, but you can't use it and, if it's a deed, you can't place it.

Define "free"growing plants for free is not enough for you?
At the moment I grow plants as I need to collect seeds of renewal for imbuing. When I have a stack of them I no longer want to deal with having to purchase reagents and make pottions and then spend the time to water and potion up every plant every day. But with this bed I should be able to grow continuously with minimal time and effort wasted. So maybe the pack costs money but it will free up time for me to do other things and yet continue to collect seeds, green thorns, orange petals and plants to make dyes from.
I see, 9 plants, but does the Planter take up just 1 lockdown regardless whether there is 1 plant or 9 plants on it or does it take up as many lockdowns as the plants that are in it ??

The only thing you may want use is the fertile dirt that is not free.

"Free" costs 10$ minimum (for 9 plants maximum) was kind of my point. Honestly, keeping the resources on hand to tend 9 plants is THAT much of a chore?

Furthermore, if they host 9 plants as max, do these 9 plants count as 9 items towards the house lockdowns or just for 1 item (the raised bed "container"...) ??

You get your raised garden bed and/or the chest of sending by using the codes you received and putting them into the promotional code option in help on your player gump..that is use the same codes you put into the account management to actually enable the themes..I have my planter on Oceania and already have 9 lovely orange pampas grass planted

Considering at this point we only get 1, yes 1 planter per account upgrade and it only allows 9 seeds to be planted at once... this is not an end to botanists and their vendors. I dont know anyone who has upgraded more than one account at this time.Thumbs down for this item

Now, if they allow us more than one per account, which I could only hope for at this point... then perhaps you would be right.
It seems like there are 3 varieties of beds, the small bed which seems like you can only grow 4 plants, the north south, east west oriented beds which grow 6 plants or the large bed which grows 9 plants. I have my 9 seeds planted and they are on day 4 or 5 right now, no water no potions no tending but I will cross polinate when the time comes so that I may be able to get mutations.

I would love to find someone who upgraded and wont be using theirs. The only ones I have seen are on Atl when I was shopping there today.. One for 27mil, one for 18mil... I wont pay that for them =/ even at .50 a mil thats still I guess $9.. might as well just buy another code.
Still think EA needs to sell them seperately or design a quest chain to get them.

yes 18 mill is to much for me also, I would not want to see them to common or every one would have 20 of them and then the old style plant raising would go out the window but selling them for 3$ or so from the store and placing a limit on how many you can buy per account might work!
not sure what a good answer is but it is something that should be given some thought!
Honestly I'd have liked to have seen them give you a set of them - one of each size with the option of which facing you wanted for choice when placing. Now for that I can see spending the 14.99$ for the dual pack. No gardenbeds wont toss out the garden pots .... 1 per acct means all my other shards I play got to punt for lack of a flower bed.... not something I will enjoy paying for more IF I and I mean IF I can place them on my houses that is.

Maybe instead of buying raised beds you could just hire someone to water your plants for you and pay them ingame gold? As well as that big castle or 18x18 become gentrified and install a back door for a poorer player to log on and take care of all the menial things for you.
