quick question about assassin honed weapons

i know the new assassin honed weapons can be imbued, but can they also be reforged?? i havent been able to get my hands on one to try.

I read the following in the Pub 74 notes :

"Re-Forging Basics

• Re-Forging requires a non-magical craftable item that is not made from special materials

"

Logically, any magical property on the weapon would hinder the reforging

Assassin Honed weapons cannot be Re-forged or Enhanced.

But the damage proc seems to be a "base damage increase" so even if you're 100% dmg inc with items and 120 in tactics/anatomy max str, you will hit anywhere from 2-16 damage higher in (pvp) on procs with a (2.5s) base SSI wep.

Am I alone in being disappointed with the Assassin Honed Weapons?

I did some tests and there is a damage increase when facing the same direction as your target. BTW, I believe the term "facing the same direction as target" basically means chasing after target. This is what my testing has produced:

Battle Axe (not imbued/enhanced)
Facing different direction: 14-15 dmg
Facing same direction: 15-20 dmg

* With both tests I used the same characters/same suits/same stats/etc.

I've asked around a little and it seems for PvP these are not being used. Either the time/effort it takes to get the weapon you want isn't worth it or the Assassin Honed weapons are simply worthless.

I would be interested in the input and opinions of other PvPers.

P.S. These new boards are pretty spiffy eh!?

These are more than likely not being used in pvp because there are only a select few weapons that are desirable and they are an incredible timesink in acquiring the right ones. I spent 2 weeks solid of having a character parked when the patch first hit, after the 2 weeks I had picked up MAYBE 10 usable weps including 2 comp bows, two human kryss, two warforks, a soul glaive, and a cyclone. (I point this out because these items cannot be altered) The rest are pretty much useless unless you run a sampire and want a whirlwind wep with a hit area effect that hits everything behind you for the extra dmg I run with an assassin honed comp bow, and absolutely love it for the extra moving shot damage.

I also posted questions about these items in the Warrior forums (lets be honest warrior forums are only about sampires). I've been testing many of these out and have yet to fully decipher the damage bonus.

not totally on subject but you can Reforge the Lava Infused weapons and the GM made Samurai armor that has mage armor even though they technically have magic on them

they are in the metal chests in Lvl 3. you have to have lockpicking to open the chests. you go into the Cells on level 1 and 2 and double click the bedrolls. sometimes they do alil damage, sometimes they knock you to 1hp and other times they do nothing. but sometimes they uncover the hole you walk on to get teleported to lvl 3, the prison. There you avoid the jailers and wonder thru the maze of invisible walls until you find the evidence rooms with chests you unlock and take magic items out of. you gotta try to get out of the level with the items im your pack.
