im not at home right now so i cant check but imbue resist (any) on armor goes up to 18 right?

so i can imbue an item with say 5 cold resist to 18 cold resist

just checking cause i forget if the highest i can go with imbue was 17 or 18

the highest is determined by the base bonus on that type of armor...i'm not 100% but i'm very sure that i was able to go to 20% on an armor i was making once

i don't recall what it was...if i had to guess it would have been a piece of sam plate mail

17-21% at least is the highest after a small test...

a plate hiro sode(this would apply to all sam plate) i was able to get 20% physical(other resists were 17-18)

and on the samurai helm arty i was able to reach 21% phys

so it stands to reason
6% base ----> 21% (confirmed)
5% base ----> 20% (confirmed)
4% base ----> 19%
3% base ----> 18% (confirmed)
2% base ----> 17% (confirmed)

i have to clarify what i mean by base bonus....
when you make a piece of armor...all armor of that type will always have the same base resists...this is the resist that are present on a item in it's most basic form...this does not include arms lore bonus resists or special metal/leather/wood bonus resists....

ie. a woodland armor piece(doesnt matter what piece...all woodland has the same base) has base resists of
5% phys---> this could be imbued up to 20
3% fire---> up to 18
2% cold----> up to 17
3% poison----Up to 18
2% energy----up to 17

ie iron hiro sode plate will have 5% physical base resist....ALWAYS....as will verite...as will valorite....as will gold....etc.... the base bonus is static and will never change

you can find a list of black smith stuff at the following link...they also have a similar link for leather and other items that i dont want to search for :p

http://uo.stratics.com/database/view.php?db_content=gameitem&id=1872&cat=852

the resists on the left page of the link are the base bonuses that apply to every type of that armor piece....

so if i make a woodland armor out of normal wood the base resists are
5 3 2 3 2

but if i make it out of heartwood , the wood itself says
2 3 2 7 2 on the uoguide for armor

what would be the base resist of the woodland armor be? when made out of heartwood

And it can't be exceptional- has to be "normal" quality and normal color, and is simply the "base" plus 15,,, if you want it to be higher than the base +15 you have to enhance it AFTER you imbue it, then the extra resist bonus from the various colors can add or stack on it,, but tht is a rather risky and expensive proposition because of the extremely high failure rate on enhancing.
For example in ur case no matter if u make the pc from normal wood OR heartwood, it still has a base resist of 5,3,2,3,2 and can be max imbued up to 20,18,17,18,17 BUT you could make it from the normal wood, max imbue it, and THEN enhance with the heartwood and get a resist of 22,21,19,25,19, IF and a mighty big IF you are successful upon attempting the enhancing.

ok so let me get this straight no matter what special materials i use to craft the base resists stay the same

so i just add 15 to the base resist of the armor (doesnt matter what material i use i dont look at it right?) and thats the max i can imbue on the armor

correct for metal and leather at least....i'm not 100% sure on woodland armor...but i would guess it works the same on that as well

Look at the resists for a non-exceptional piece of the armor, made from normal iron/wood/leather.

Add 15 to each number - that is the amount you can imbue it to, regardless of how many points end up on it from exceptional (with or without arms lore), runic properties, and/or materials.

The only exception is taking it to that number with items made of the base material, THEN enhancing it with a special material.

BTW, one helmet (bascinet) is 7/2/2/2/2, so you could theoretically enhance it to 22 resists, then enhance with Dull Copper to get to 28 Physical.
