I logged in once with a friend's inactive account last week to prove to someone that it was free to do so atm. And now everytime I log out of my own account to switch chars, the account name has been switched to my friend's inactive account. Happens at least 5 times a day, and it's really starting to annoy me. I've never had that problem with my own two accounts, so I dunno why it would happen with this random account.

Any ideas how to get it to stop without deleting it from my UO folder?

If it is the Enhanced Client, you can edit the default/last login name in the UserSettings.xml file. I think the OutDated Client has a file to change this also.

Try logging onto a different shard temporarily and then log onto your home shard after that. That should clear the problem and your client will remember your account after that.

I'm using the old 2D client, and I've been switching shards (playing Europa, Siege and Lake Superior) daily.

I just find it strange that it started doing this (and only with that one account), even though I have access and regularily login with at least 5 different accounts.

Apparently I'm the only one with this problem. :(

It changes the date every time you close the client, so the only way it could be sticking is if you are doing something to prevent a normal closure of the client. Log into the client without using any external programs (legal or otherwise), log into a different account, then close UO normally by logging out, then clicking quit.

IF that doesn't work, you've probably got some sort of security software issue from that time period that started preventing the client from updating that file properly.
