Question about Wrestle Parry mage with HCI or without HCI.

So i'm trying to figure out something with my suit... This is for a wrestle parry mage with 1.5 swing speed with bare hands according to the swing speed calculator. I can either use a spellbook and get my cap of 30% SDI from that. Then I can get 30% HCI from jewelry. There isn't any EP on the suit but I wouldn't be able to chug with spellbook in hand and if I got disarmed i'd only have 8 SDI on the suit...

So I could go that route OR

I could put SDI on the jewelry instead of HCI and not have to worry about using a spellbook so I could chug pots. I wouldn't have the 30% HCI though... At 94 dex self blessed no pots, 5% swing speed from cloak of augmentation it puts me at 1.5 swing speed... The difference with that compared to having 10 dex without the 5% ssi from cloak is a whole 1.0 swing speed. I just thought the HCI would be good to have with the wrestling but people are telling me that if I don't have hit lower defense then when fighting dexers it won't matter anyway... Do yall think I should go without the spellbook and HCI so I can chug? Or go with the spellbook with SDI and put HCI on jewelry?

Template:

120 parry
120 eval
120 resist (+10 resist from helm)
120 wrestle
120 magery
120 med
10 focus

Elf self blessed no pots stats:

total of +55 to stats total on suit.

If I had the choice (which I often do) I would go with out the HCI so you can pot.

HCI and swing speed don't matter that much, you shouldn't be trying to stand there and swing to do your specials anyway, if someone gets close you try to special, if you fail you move on to using your normal spells/tactics and try again at another point.

Hello,

funny thing I basically got the same template, since I couldnt figure out any way that made sense to fit someting else on. Elven aswell.
Anyway, I am running a 29 SDI, 65 DCI, 45 HCI Wrestl Parry mage with 50 ep and a free hand. (25hpi, 12/13mr, 100lrc, ~37lmc)
Theres only 3 things (FCR 5, LMC 37 and SDI 29) I am not 100% happy about, but thats only cuz I been lazy and didnt wanna work the suit properly.

I´ll check the suit later when I´m back home if you would like to see what it is. I´m pretty sure that there´s still plenty of room for improvement :)

I think this is a huge part of pvping, you need to get out there and fight then adjust your suit based on what you notice is hurting you the most. You could spend months planning a "perfect" suit but that isn't helping you learn you character or how to play it effectivly since you are in the abyss farming or on the imbuer making armor pieces. I don't think HCI on a wrestle mage is worth it, but I don't use wrestling offensivly.. ever. I go for a disarm or a stun punch sometimes and 95% of the time miss and move on. I am not wrong, because I don't need to disarm/stun punch to fight effectivly. But that doesn't mean someone else is wrong because they put a lot of emphasis on being able to use wrestling specials. Playstyle determines how and what you need to work on for the suit. I think with imbuing people get a little too wrapped up in making the suits/items that they forget to go fight.

Indeed.
I think I only got 3 imbued pieces on that suit, including the ring
However, I been asking mself the question of HCI yes or no for some time.
I mostly decided pro HCI because I really enjoyed having it years ago.

It comes in handy disarming dexxer/archers every now and then, but for me the best part is the stun in a 1v1 with another mage.

I have not been playing an aweful lot on this char yet, but for me it´s still fun to play.
