I picked up some gold recently at an IDOC and its a little different than ordinary gold. Its kinda dull looking. Ive been playing since about 2000 but I cant remember if this is what gold used to look like. Anybody know more about this?

Look like the 'Orange hued" gold to me... similar to the orange-blaze ingots, cloth, fishsteaks, bottles, etc
