Question about released pet persistency

Will a released pet continue to live until it is killed, or does the UO environment eventually make them go away after a certain period of time?

I ask because of two recent experiences I had in Trammel:

1) I tamed a gaman, brought it with me to one of the Yew sheep pens, then released it in the pen. It's still there several days later.

2) Last night I was wandering around near the Britain moongate and spotted three cu sidhes nearby. I checked on them this morning (I don't have nearly enough taming skill yet to try taming one) and they are still there. Have to say my skin started tingling each time I saw them - probably a mixture of awe and fear coming from a newbie tamer. :)

Thanks for the help!

They can linger around for a few days if nobody attacks them. I can't say I've actually studied this to give you specific figures. I've released cu sidhe by my house and met them a day later again, but never later than that. But that certainly wasn't a safe test area - I live in Fel :D

I wouldn't ever rely on a released pet remaining in my house overnight though. At least not if it was a keeper. Just as logging out with your pets is often safe, but the stables are better. If that makes sense!
