Question about Mage/tamers in Doom gauntlet..

Just got back into playing UO after a three month break and learned about the drop change in doom gauntlet and was wondering how effective mage/tamers are when it comes to getting an arty with the new changes..Ive heard archer with bushido and chiv is a good templete for doom but really would prefer to use my mage/tamer then build up an archer.

My friend always uses her mage/tamer in Doom and she got alot of arties. She even gets them more often then me with my paladin warrior cause she using her luck armor.
