Question about "A Piece Of Blackrock"

So I was sailing around fishing up SOSs in Felucca and happened to pass by Magincia where I found a piece of blackrock right off the coast... I'm curious about it as I've seen "A Large Piece Of Blackrock" and "A Small Piece Of Blackrock", but never a piece with this size/shape or name...

I started around the time you could mine the large pieces and gain from the backrock areas, so I'm not new to the stuff. But does anyone care to enlighten me on where this particular piece could have come from?

"a piece of blackrock" is the rarer of the three kinds.

You could find it after the blackrock obelisk exploded, or right after a void daemon was slain at the final battle for Magincia at the moongate. So this hasn't spawned in about 2.5 years.

Yes, it is the most rare of those 3. Keep it, don't detonate it!

Thanks for the responses! Lucky find I guess. Now my only question is how did I come to find if off the coast of Magincia 2.5 years after it apparently stopped spawning? :)

Blackrock doesn't decay, so I guess it got blasted out there during the invasion :) A very nice find.

Have been asking myself that since last night too. All I could come up with is either one of the latest patches accidently turned is spawing back on OR the bane plot line has moved into an area where it was turned back on. Guess time will tell, but I am gonna keep my eyes {cntrl shift} open when travelling the land. :)

Sometimes people will clean out their backpacks now and then, and they might not have noticed the difference when tossing out all the pieces, or just not known there was a difference.

I was still seeing some pieces of blackrock scattered offshore of Lake Austin's Magincia Trammel for over a year, until someone sailed around and detonated them.

Not only does blackrock not decay, the events on Mag blew many of those pieces onto z-axis locations where they could not be grabbed (above the water, below ground in those voids where monsters could spawn, but not be attacked, etc.)

It's possible that the retexturing of the island during the removal of the rubble exposed pieces that had been buried for 2 years, or caused floating pieces to drop to the ground. They are, after all, just sitting on the environment, not locked down in any way, and various tweaks to the terrain tend to cause stuff to fall to ground level (and, theoretically, to rise back to the surface, if the old Z-location is no longer legal) - remember how the Gypsy tent stuff was causing things to fall through the floor, since they were put back in?. And, while they are still around - who would actually be looking for the blackrock, these days?

Speaking of which, is my house even still standing? I had to shut down that account because I couldn't (and still can't) afford to keep it up :(

Whew...

I know of a couple people who used to be in MPD that still play, myself included... But I think MPD itself has bitten the dust :(
