you asked back in March.
I actually think they are kind of interested in it, but just don't have the resources and/or are concerned about the target audience. I'm sure the thought of it has some fans within BioWare, given that UO's 15th anniversary is coming up next year, but if they were going to do one in time for that, they need more people and they would have needed to have already started on it by now so that it would be in full testing by next spring/summer.
The people who are serious fans of a classic shard are probably off playing third-party shards based on the exact classic rulesets they want - I've seen people talk about classic shards ranging from pre-T2A, T2A, pre-UO:R, pre-Publish 16, and pre-AOS. A lot of those people are seriously involved with those shards, and it'd be hard to convince them to ditch all of that and the communities they've built up or are involved with and starting paying a monthly fee to come back to the official UO.
The best chance was probably back with the Stygian Abyss team when they had more resources.
