I wasn't able to login for long last night, but there was supposedly a 2v2 tournament to be held by EM Spriggan on the Atlantic Server. From what I understand and read (posted in general chat), the event was held at a house in Felucca and the EM had no ability to stop people from casting spells or attacking others. The EM was posting in general chat that no such area exists where players aren't able to attack others and I just don't see how they expect to run a 2v2 tournament on Atlantic of all places if they can't get an area like this created. I don't see the players here, on Atlantic, not attacking each other just to watch a 2v2 tournament.

There was rumors of the tournament never getting off, and I'm not actually sure if it did but if anyone could actually post the results, I would greatly appreciate it.

The main point of my post is to request an addition. I know it might be too much to ask for, but creating an area where no negative actions can be made until placed into a specific area combat area while still viewable by the others (who cant attack or cast) would fix this issue because the EM's could simply move the players into the designated 'duel pits'. I would assume it's beyond the EM's control to create anything like this, but I believe this would be a great addition, especially if tournaments happen on a regular basis.

Any developer response on this? Is it possible?

There used to be a GM-made duel pit at Fel Moonglow which was accessible through Mage Tower, but when the tower fell, the entrance went with it. You can still see the pit, you just can't enter it.

All an EM needs to do is have an area where players can't attack the duelers, such as a locked room in a house? If anyone would attempt to act up, just ban them.

Are you saying the spectators couldn't stop fighting each other? If so, who cares...it doesn't affect the outcome of the event. You can still watch the tournament while in ghost form. However, I can see how going into stat loss right before your match could delay things.

I wasn't there so I'm not sure what exactly happened, but it seemed like he was calling it off just because everyone was attacking each other. "SL is killing everyone" was one of the complaints I remember seeing.

I agree, I don't really care if people are killing each other, but if he isn't even able to get things started, maybe things like this fel moonglow arena needs to be used.

Sosaria Reels was at the event and you can see the video at the link below... yes it was a bit dangerous as you can see when one of the reporter's chars is killed ....

YouTube - tgnultimaonline's Channel - Atlantic Tournament

They also attended the PVP tourney on Origin and while there was griefing outside the arena and some had trouble getting in to the event, inside was safe, easy to see and seemed to be under control. I bet the EMs will learn from each other and fine tune as they do more events and learn what works and doesn't work.

Thanks to all the EMs who take on an event amongst us fel players :)

Actually...
Why not have everyone have to spectate as a ghost and when it's their turn to duel, the GM would revive them? You could have it next to a bank even where people could grab their pots and everything.

Need more explanation why some people do not want to pvp in uo ? Small hint , the reason has nothing to do with pvp at all.
To bad you cannot see the chat window.

Amazing that on a shard I cannot name there is an area that you cannot attack others nor they you, PERIOD. Its the waiting area for those that want to enter the dueling area to fight or just watch. You just bring up the gump and click on the player you wish to challenge, and even above that you can be ANYWHERE in the game and do that suddenly being transported to the duel pits. Sad that its done by a few teenagers to early 20s but it cant be made here.

I feel for the EMs that attempt these things but have no true power to pull it off.

Freeshards have these types of things as said.. but EMs can't seem to figure it out.. Pretty bad if you ask me.

The Origin event was pretty great, I'm sad I missed it. Origin is a great model for EMs to follow.

EM's are capable of hosting contained pvp events without issue. Most EMs are not pvpers or particularly intelligent. They fail to understand the game mechanics surrounding or involved in their events.

The problem in most cases is not the griefing but the failure of the EM to think through the event.

Successful events are often held by players, the inability of an EM to replicate the exact same events is entirely the fault of the EM.
