Have had the opportunity to discuss the merits of several types of PvP mechanics in games over the weekend, and i would like to as you all a couple questions.

1) why do you like Siege?
2) if you are a PK, what is your general style?
3) if you are not a PK, how do you survive, in general?

I don't mean this to be a discussion at all. Just an assessment of individual feelings from my community.

1. i like siege because i enjoy not having insurance and the all fel ruleset
2. my PK skills very mystic mage or mystic tamer
3. Most common siege method of survival is stealth or run in a group all the time.

these are my feeling about your questions

1. I like the freedom. I don't like to many system rules. I special don't like the split in 2 ruleset on normal shards.
2. I'm a vampire hunting the forest at night. Only thing I need from my victims are blood. Sadly no one use the forest now and I'm so hungry, that I become blue.
3. Some PvP skills, a good reputation and the old rule about never carry more than you can replace after dead. A little fight is welcome.

I love Siege for two reasons.. First of all I love how it is a close knit community where everybody knows everybody. Second of all I love how it is different from any other place. To me a place should be a individual place and nothing else like it. On Siege, we have that.

I am an archer who goes to quiet farming places many would not suspect someone would go to.. I decorate people's houses, do deal or no deal games, and I'm about to run for governor of Moonglow.. If you ask me the more you have to do in game the funner it'll be to get on there and accomplish something :) but back to the survival part.. I would suggest a template that you are comfortable with. Hiding and Stealthing is good skills to have.. but you also want to have some kind of fighting template to perhaps survive an attack from someone..

The reason I prefer siege over the others would be that the economy isn't as broken as other shards. There are no transfers so no imported gold and spamming from .com gold sellers. I find the fact on other shards that is is too expensive for new players to start, unless they want to pay someone else for gold... the few rl friends that did tried UO out basically said this was a reason they didn't like it. Why pay to play then pay some "person" money so they can buy a few items and i couldn't agree to much more; what's the fun in that.... So Siege, for me is the last place to play before i leave UO.
Once this character has played his story out, i'm leaving.
I'm not big on pvp, mainly because there are far more ways to play the game and If i wanted to do a player vs player game i would probably play one geared just towards that and nothing else. I have had a pvper on here and other shards but it just got boring or too drama filled.

I survive by trying to be helpful, and I think I've built a decent reputation.

1) It is different in a way from production shards that I just grew accustomed to. I also like the people that I have met in the game over the years. Having the whole world on one rule set is nice. I first started playing on Siege because I heard others on my Tram shard tell of how awful it was so I had to see for myself.
2) I suck at PVP so I mostly do PVM and crafting. I like PVP but I stink at it.
3) Survival is really not a problem at all anymore. Years ago you could get PK'd just about anywhere you went. Now I can pretty much go anywhere I want unchecked, excluding a few of the more popular areas. I suspect that my powerful purple shoes also give me some level of protection.

1.) Love the community. Started in a guild many years ago and never left. My guild mates became great friends that are loyal and caring both in game and RL over the years. Also love the adventure of possibly dying at any second...and I do!
2.) Not a PK
3.) Mostly PvM and crafting. I survive because of guild mates who always come to the rescue :)

1) I like to PvP in luna, and I like taking people's things.
2) Set a trap so they can't get away, then chase them into it and kill them. At that point my fun is over, and if they don't have anything I would use I'll leave it and I usually resurrect them.
3) I survive by not putting myself in losing situations, equipping as well as I possibly can, and on Siege I use ninjitsu instead of scribe because its usually an outnumbered fight with dismounters.

1.) *looks at Atlantic* Umm.... yea... enough said.
2.) Same as all PK's. Kill... and if you can't - call in more friends.
3.) Sorry - I am not giving away trade secrets here.

1. attackability - can freely attack anyone anywhere outside of the gz, hated waitin to take turns to kill a monster. Smaller land mass - wish it even was smaller. Guildmates of course without them Bo quit long ago.

2. Bo plays just bout every template, but bo most enjoys stabbing people and drinkin beer. What Bo tries to do is to put Bo's opponent into a situation where they have to choose to run and maybe die or stay and fight.. Also Bo loves tryin to figure out how to beat someone, it is like a puzzle. Everyone, every temp and how people play is different, so its always challenging.

3. Surviving is easy, just be prepared to defend yourself at all times. If you practice this you will notice that surviving is much easier. Going out hunting in a sub 70s suit and no pots is just asking to have your stuff taken away from you. Bo doesnt understand why someone would take the time to farm, and wear trash gear. Meanwhile they lose the time and everything they just farmed.
