PvP and Powerscrolls

How many Trammies are lured to fel for powerscrolls?
I mean to ask, how many of you who only PvM go to Fel somewhat regularly to get powerscrolls?

With all the red guilds that use pure numbers and/or hacks (there are some with real skill, but not a lot), a PvMer stands almost no chance of getting powerscrolls as it is now unless they take the time to earn money in Tram then buy them.

I go but always get raided. Sometimes twice in one day when we can get the numbers. No success...I don't believe in paying someone else for something i can earn myself

You can't finish a spawn by yourself, you need at very least 2, and I've only seen it done with 2 necro peacers.

Late night/early morning people tend to be able to sneak spawns on smaller shards. Shards like Atlantic/Pacific/Great Lakes may be a different story...

I could care less.... if I want powerscrolls I buy them.... if I want PvP I hang at Yew Gate. I don't waste my time trying to get scrolls. If I want arties however I go to doom and get them myself. Yes I too have a thing against paying for something I can get myself... Powerscrolls are not something I can get myself unless I join one of the Zerg guilds... which I refuse to do.

I'm in tram more often than fel so I guess that makes me a trammie. I go and pvp sometimes though too. I do spawns all the time. Get raided half the time.

It's all about the ghostcams...

Maybe you should actually do some thinking about that stance.

By the time you've died a ton of times, lost all the insurance, got re-kitted up, continued on for days and days... you could have stayed in Trammel and hunted something and acquired the cash to pay for the powerscroll(s) you desire with less effort and frustration. It'd also be much faster. Time is an expensive commodity in itself. Sometimes it is just a hell of a lot more productive to pay people for things rather than acquire it yourself, as the time:cost tradeoff becomes not worth it. In the time taken, you could have made a lot more than the value of the item you're striving to acquire.

That's why people buy things. That's why you should buy things sometimes.

I would love the opportunity to earn my own in tram instead of venturing to fel...

Im not good at the pvp, but I like taking the chance to get power scrolls in fel by working the champ spawns. I go on a my blue stealth archer character I dont care that I die on, and I dont wear anything Im scared of losing., but most of the guilds will give you back anything you lose besides resources. and I can always make up the insurance money if I get killed by getting on my tamer. Plus when I get killed I laugh it off and think they got me this time next time I'll be more careful.

What trammies have to remember is this game came out with PVP....your everquest play styled has just evolved into UO.


Lets keep the scrolls where they are so, there is some point to pvp other than the Quake sense of slaughter.

Its all a numbers game.. the devs look at this board.. see what it is that the "players" want.. Which BTW "are considered the only people that post on this board" then decide what to give the players that have asked for something what they want. Unfortunately for you and I... most pvpers don't "waste their time" typing on boards because pvp is NOT ABOUT COMPLAINING OR TALKING IN GENERAL. It is about playing against another player... If a group of people would ask me to join them in a spawn I would. I´m not afraid to go to Fel and risk to die. I like doing different things ingame and spawns are one of them.

But I think that if they fixed ghost-caming which seems to be very abused, then I think a lot more "Trammies" would go to Fel and try to do spawns.

Cuz it´s my belief that many of those that don´t go do spawns in Fel are not afraid to get raided and die, but they feel it´s no point doing it cuz they KNOW they are gonna get raided and die.

Not to go back to the whole tram/fel thing but let me touch on that for a second. I have played several shards and things vary. I noticed that alot of people preaching on the subject come from smaller shards where it isn't as much as a problem or factor but i can honestly tell you that it is.

These guilds will sign on at server up and kill off all the vermin spawns so you have no shot at doing a quick one. They also have an uncanny ability to show up with like 20 people just as you have summoned the champion (Ghost Cam?)

For a good 2 weeks, things were quiet and they actually calmed down a bunch while they explored other shards but it's not (and hadn't been) about pvp for these guilds since the Powerscrolls.

I'm just going to leave it alone because you really have to experience what i am talking about to understand what i mean.

I don't expect many do for powerscrolls, however every other time theres any content thats in fel they go for that. Books of truth/candle of love/alacrity/10th anni. Though that was before they 'fixed' the fast spawn rate in fel.

I think most tram people don't know how to set themselfs up for a venture in to fel and thats why they often die quick lose much and don't come back. Most fel essays are out of date.

For a while after I first started last year, a couple friends and I would go to the Fel champ spawns for power scrolls. Even though we got raided, a lot, and even though we lost the spawn in almost every raid, we still came out so far ahead, gold wise, to make it worth our time.

We stopped for a couple of reasons. First, the more difficult champions made it easier for the raiding guilds to find us and do something about it in time. And second, we (all three of the guild's "regulars") got involved with other things in real life.

So now if I need more power scrolls, I'll buy them. And if I need gold, I'll do peerless or Doom.

Stat loss... Not only me but a few of my friends have killed reds an we do it all the time... We will get one or a few... I will always be in favor of stat loss..

We get our kills an leave just before the horde of reds turn up..

As for pvp an power scrolls it was meant to be a good thing to fight over but with the lack of gm support over cheats hacks well we all know the answer to that...

RTLFC Everything is fine with the way powerscrolls are in fel and alot of you could do T2A spawns for the scrolls you need. I would only like to see more open field fights and less choke point, wither cannon crap. Just my 2 cents

Those essays are all player written. Since they are so out of date, why don't you, or any other PvP'rs, or even group of PvP'rs get together and put together essays to cover each of the template types so that people are more informed as to what and how to prepare for a trip to Fel, along with any tips and tricks of the trade? Zigzag would be the person to send any essays to so they can be reviewed, then put into their appropriate pages on Stratics. This alone might have Fel seeing an increase in players.

ghost cams with runebooks and rail scripts... you would still have ghost cams. The only way to fix ghost cams is to not let ghosts see anything that's relevant to the status of a spawn.

as a pre-ren pvper, i approve of this message.
i played perma reds for many years both before and after trammel.

removing statloss and letting reds into towns were terrible, terrible changes. they were put into the game as a band-aid to broken factions. rather than fix the system, they just made pvp a riskless free-for-all. horrible! ten times worse than trammel in my book.

edit: insurance also sucked. leave BOP crap for wow, it just further encourages gold farming, selling, grinding etc.

You know I've entertained the Idea, but when I stack it against some of the things I do know goes on it's now worth the effort. Some of the larger Zerg Guilds on Chessy openly admit to cheating on other forums I read, I've watched them in Duels using scripts running to heal them. Long and short of it, an honest player can't compete for the most part with a speed hacking, script kiddie. They do nothing but move their character and toggle a few special strikes all other necessities are on auto pilot, where as I have to watch my health, heal, out maneuver a turbo charged toon, and at the same time get in hits. I really wish the Devs would look into the idea of a solution for Scripts I mentioned a while back concerning a more dynamic encryption method so the encryption keys to client or the data stream would change on a daily basis effectively breaking the more popular script programs permanently. Yea it would mean a daily patch....but it would be a small one and much worth it to get rid of the cheats. As far as Speed Hacks figure out what the max "distance" one should be able to travel in (x) seconds should be and put in an "You must stop to catch your breath after sprinting so far" or something and effectively paralyze them for 3-5 seconds with no way to move until they recover....I bet you'd see Speed Hacks go *poof* rather quickly then.

After some type of action of this nature maybe I'd consider Fel trips to champ spawns until then I'll just stealth around and pick up the left overs to sell.

PS work fine the way they are, if your not prepared to take the risks involved in getting them (PvM or PvP wise) then don't complain about not having them. I understand that some people don't want to PvP/goto Fel but its not like there aren't any PS for sale...

Besides if you don't PvP, then the need for 120 skills is substantially reduced for most skills (115, or even GM up, should do fine for most PvM applications), although obviously it is still desirable.


I do think the Tram spawns need a reward system however, maybe Tokuno minors for the Tok spawn etc...

Maybe with the recent changes this is true - but back in 06/07 I've seen plenty done and did a few myself. Got my first 120 Magery by solo'ing a rat at khaldun.
