Put some "Native American" themed items into the game?

This was something I was wanting to post during the thanksgiving holiday and the "turkey hunt" that the Devs made available,but never got around to it...until now.

Just a few things I would like to see introduced would go something like this.

Armor: Add a wolf and eagle headdress that is comparable(or maybe even craftable?) to the bear and buck headdress that we already have.

House Deco:Craftable Dreamcatchers,and Teepee "walls" added to the house custom options.

This is all I can come up with right now because it's late. I may add more ideas later. So what do you think? I am sure it's do-able,but will the Devs be interested in adding something like this?

While I HATED the japan stuff they did, and more so the Tom Mcfarland C-R-A-P that was put in because (Tom's stuff is = to an preschool kids skill) I hated that we moved away from the typical 'middle English' theme.

I will say that not they broke that and started adding in other things, I would like to seem them honor other customs. Even little items as you stated, Deco is huge in this game now, so even if Native American items were added for home, I would be happy.

I agree and it is my feeling that the items/house custom additions would not overpower anything. I do fear that anything non-asian and non-garg would not get much consideration

I think if they slowly released a few items from each culture it would be pretty big, You could hang your dream catchers and that would not be ruining anyones gameplay. people get pretty creative with Decro in their house, and everyone loves holiday stuff to put up.

I believe they did they japan/asian theme when they opened up the asian shards. To show good will or that it is possible to have asian themes and UO go hand-in-in hand. I'm sure there's a quote around here somewhere from one of the devs about that.

Well, we already have cannons in the game... But muskets and such would be a really bad idea indeed. But the general idea and theme of pirates would be great. Like brigands sailing around on ships, maybe cannons (or make them catapults) on ships. New Water monster, underwater dungeon, water champ spawn only doable from boats, new weapons (harpoon, yar!) and so forth. There are so many great ideas floating around (bad pun intended) for a pirate expansion.

I've always seen roleplayed 'Wood Elves' as culturally similar to Native Americans; but that has a little more to do with the books I read. The Savages and Orcs could also have some Primative Tribal and Shamanistic Themes.

There are several examples of Asian Culture in the Ultima Canon Games.

OK for those that may have misunderstood what I am actually asking for,I will recap.

1)Dreamcatcher graphic
2)Eagle and Wolf Headdress graphic to go along with the buck and bear headdress.
3)New teepee "walls" added to the house custom menu

What I am not asking for​

1)New expansion with more unneeded lands
2)New skill(s) that must be balanced against already existing templates.
3)Anything that would be overpowering even in the least.

Try being in character as a savage in native garb only, in an itemised artie sort of game and just playin a savage to pvp or even pvm with.......... all ya end up as is a corpse.

So much potential artistically that they could put/add dreamcatchers into the game even as *savages* for their homes in UO, or some other items even a bit more orcy. But they do not.

Architecturally or artistically, they could add anything *more* that could be from UO human history time of many euro cultures too, for housing addons etc. since people have traveled since the beginnings of time, every culture has a bit of just about every other culture in it anyhow.

Our npc gypsies have tents, would not be a far stretch to permit our *savages* to have tents or huts that remotely resemble Native Americans either..with dream catchers kin paint and spiffy new headdresses..which actually have the %%%%%%%%%% to be worth wearing to fight in or pvp with or pvm with besides kin paint and a spear that amt to ..........being naked and defenseless. For that matter let US be gypsies ! Give us some tents, some fancy rugs, tapestries imported from Hungry or Romania or Ancient Persia , let us live the simpler life in UO, yet able to compete in the pvp and pvm as *natives.*

Unfortunately canon does not contribute to the idea ... however that does not mean that even if it's not overtly done, that there are not way we can incorporate some of the aesthetic aspects of the culture.

That's big words for ... "There might be cool stuff we could do ... but I doubt it will be anything major ..."

Along with new boats and a Pirate expansion that adds life to the seas... part of UO that's been sadly left behind for far too long!

And I'd LOVE to have a dead wolf pelt and eagle to adorn my head... especially since they've taken away my nice circlet and given me the dead deer back for my headdress...


Actually I'd much prefer the ability to "Alter" any item from one slot to another item of the same slot... so I can alter the Rune beetle carapace into some nice leaf armor.... so I can keep with my "elvenness" and not have to dress like I'm an insane tourist.

I'd like to alter my hunters headdress into a nice circlet... and then alter my leather leggings into leaf leggings.... And I think you get the picture Cal.

If Gargoyle have taught us how to Unravel things.... one would think that we could learn to alter them as well...

I'd say that you could keep the properties of the item but just change the appearance.... however if you take plate armor so long as it's not "mage" armor... it's NEVER going to be Medable... But I think it would be very nice to allow us to alter our armor...

And of course in this way if you wanted to play a "savage" you could alter your runebeetle carapace into a very nice bone armor one...

I'd say you could implement this with some sort of need for "resources" such as using up some of the currently useless items like "Fur"... and those little trees you get from doing Lady M... and how about using things like that stuff you get from killing Troglodytes... I forget what it's called right now.... I'm so bad with names. Anyway there are 100's of things in-game that can be gathered but have ZERO use. You could even put to use more of the ingredients that we currently use... like Peerless stuff, Blight, Scourge and whatnot...

But that's my thoughts on the matter.

Ice skating during the winter with bone sticks and hitting blackrock around the ice for the win.

I like the idea of more masks. I would also like more trophies from animals and monsters. Dragon, wolf, pig, pirate...all whatever masks are good in my book. Allow them to be imbueable though.

This is an interesting thread. There maybe a in game solution. Savages and ORCs can be updated with a few things as far as armor, clothing, crafted items. NPC quests to learn to make these items etc. This shouldn't stretch the UO story line much if at all. But let me remind everyone there were more than just Native Americans as far as a tribal culture.
