anyone run a professional full time scout, for a guild or for factions?

If so, what template do you run, and what duties do you perform? Obviously tracking and reveal, but wondered if heals/cures, pots, mule, etc might also play in somewhere

I'm considering making one. I've seen our opposing guilds field up to 4 stealthers at once now...so i'm thinking about mixing my scout with a tank.

60 stealth
GM alchemy
Gm hiding
GM detect
GM ninja (or better)
120 bushido
120 parry
120 fencing

Hiding, stealth, and ninja for getting in and out.
Fencing, Parry, and Bushido for not getting hit by any one of the archers should they Actually try to kill me.
And Alchemy...because its fun.
Heals, Cures and Stam to keep me alive.
Explosion, conflag, and Super nova for damage/detection.
Detect and JOAT for scouting the stealthers and a little more reliable detection.

I'd pretty much wear my old thief jewelry for the ninja/EP/misc skill bonuses. Shroud of silence, possibly get a new investigator's cloak. (my real one isnt leaving Sarme) Heart of the lion, folded steel glasses, Faction Feys...
Meh, I'll figure out the details if I actually go through with it.

interesting. I have found that alchemy with an ecru is pretty strong stuff

I use a detective character to investigate folks who apply for membership to our guild. Only useful is certain circumstances, but very survivable and sneaky.

100 forensic
100 detect
100 track
100/115 mage (tome of lost knowledge)
115 ninja
100 hide
45/75 stealth (shadow dancers, cloak of silence)
60 med

eventually I will make a detective char on siege, since I dont think we have any in operation. It'll be that, or maybe archery.

Although i have been unable to log on for what feels like forever!

I am a scout in working on siege.

I will not be running stealth or hiding.

It is a very simple template;

Tracking, Detect, Poisoning, Alchemy, Fencing, Tactics, Parry.

The poisoning will be used to help prevent stealthing, the Alchemy will be used to inflict damage on a stationary stealthed target [Exp+conflags on his tile]. The Fencing/Tactics/Parry will offer me decent defence and offence...and...well the tracking/detect speaks for itself.

I recall seeing your title before. May I ask how far along you are in template?

This is what I generally run on my faction "scouts," in terms of "real" skills:

100 Tracking
100 Detect Hidden
100 Remove Trap
100 Hiding
100 Magery
90 Stealthing
80 Stealing
50 Lockpicking (minimum required in order to use Remove Trap skill)

I used to run a "detect hidden" scout. It was used mainly for dungeon/"gate" fighting.

I had GM tracking and GM detect hidden.

I then had GM hide and 70-75 stealth

I then had 110 magery, necro, eval, and spirit speak on there.

My guy wasn't really there for sustained PvP... he was there for two things:
1) Reveal and following hiders
2) Rez

I used the template a TON about 3-5 years ago. I use a variation currently now with ninja on it... but he is used to scout spawns also:thumbup1:

The nice thing with the magery scout is he can cast reveal till he is blue in the face and WILL reveal stealthers. Without magery, you are limited by skill timer :(

Touzoko, you most definitely should make a detective on siege.

I created a copy of my Atlantic detective on siege yesterday [complete with forensics and all] and am working him up bit by bit. Don't expect to see a ton of me around.. but I do indeed plan on giving some of the thieves there a run for their money

I think Atlantic has more thieves than any other shard, with the possible exception of Siege. I'm guessing you'll have some fun. :thumbup1:

110 mage
115 eval
100 med
100 hide
55 stealth
100 detect
100 track
40 focus
shadow legs, nonimbued ring with :15 mage+6 eval+fcr1+def 10, Orny, Arcane shield. Quiver inf,Pendant, Kasa, totem void,CC, Conj robe.Rest runic (i hate carapace). With an invasion spellbook def 10,sdi28,fcr2,lmc5.
40 lmc 14 mr 10 hpr, 45 dci,55sdi. I use a hit lightning/mana leech kryss -20 mw to switch for defense.

He sees use in scouting champs for raiders, especially in lich area in abyss; Also handy for making guild runebooks when new areas come about. In a pvp he is pretty tuff, he would be better if I was faster on the keys I imagine.
