I may shoot waaaaaaayyyy off target here, but since no one has responded I'll throw this out there...

I dont remember exactly when the 9th anniversary client came out, but the first thought in my head is to wonder if it came it before or after XP was released?

I only say that because even thought Win2000 was basically the same kernel, there were a few differences, maybe it doesnt matter... I dont know.

But if it is a pre-XP client, maybe you could could get the free download of the Mondain (for 2d) or KR (for 3d) client and try those. Other than that, at least we're bumping your post back up for someone who may be of more help to chime in...

I installed my client off a 9th anniversary disc in XP and it works fine. My only suggestion would be to try right clicking on the shortcut and select 'run as administrator'.

I'm assuming by your post that you were able to successfully patch the client up to the current version? Because I know that when I have a bad patch session, and my client does not update properly, sometimes I get the same problem you're describing.

Hope some of that can be of a help to you.
